In the very crowded Philippine pickup market, Mitsubishi has always had a place with the venerable Strada. Recently however, the Strada name has been retired in favor of its international name, the Triton. More than just a name change, and equipped with a thoroughly modernized interior and exterior design, can this workhorse of a pickup stand out in an already competitive segment?

The previous design of the Strada is much more good looking than the new Triton and doesn't get old. How I wish they remain the old design Strada and make it wider and longer with the technology and design interior of the Triton now. Atleast they remain the old design in the current 2024 Montero sport and maybe just put a Bi-turbo under the hood.

Hmmm It may come from the same Mitsubishi 4N1-engine series tho the 4N16 motor in this is a different 2.4 from the previous 4N15. And yeah, no rear A/C given it only is an afterthought as well in the Athlete, because Marelli(Calsonic) AC System. Size may become an issue to some in maneuverability, tho that crisp and clear 360° camera works wonders when parking as it is THAT clear. It just might be me but I find it easier to park than the previous gen, given the steering is lighter despite still having a hydraulic system apart from the 360 camera.

kanina lang nka park ako sa sm mall... un bago triton owner nag tanong sakin kelan ako nagpabago ng front na montero looks pero strada 2014 limited . ganda tignan kysa 2024 nya 😂😂😂 isa lang reps ko hilux nlng sna binili mo ngayon 2024 😂😂😂

From owning the Triton for a few months now, my only complaint is it's suspension, medjo matagtag imo

what do you mean matagtag? matagtag coming from a crossover? or mas matagtag among its competition.

@@alfonsomartinez7919 compared to other pickups (I can compare to the Navara), matagtag ang ride niya even with aftermarket (larger) tires. Just my experience though

@@kanecitizen thats expected cause navaras dont use leaf springs at the rear. also, from what Ive known upgrading to larger aftermarket tires will make the ride worse unless it's under inflated.

I mean you do kind of expect that from a pickup/ute with leaf springs though, excluding the navara with it's coil springs, and raptor with it's fox shocks, but that does result in those 2 having a lower payload capacity at the back compared to those with leaf springs.

I kinda felt that way when it first launched last year but its grown on me, and now it I feel as if it gives less of a pogi look but more of a menacing or imposing look to it. I wouldnt go as far as the ugliest in history, though... Maybe not the best design out there but its definitely far from the worst imo

Design is subjective. It may not be suitable for you, but for others, it is. Its unique design makes it stand out among the rest. I have a Triton Athlete, and we like its design.

Hahhaa nung una subrang napapangitan aq. Hilux talaga ung gusto or navara but nung nakita q n person daym it defines what a pickup truck means boxy angular malapad na in love aq at first sight kahit galing pa kami sa toyota dealer nag inquire ng pickup nila pag dating namin sa mitsu boom decided na agad triton na bilhin. Subrang sikip ng grs ni toyota, dated na ung interior. D pa realize ng lahat until maka try ka ng triton

For me, the design is unique n futuristic where other car brands don't have. The power is very impressive n fuel economy is quite minimal.
