terry I absolutely adore your movies marathons, and to the best of my knowledge you're the only one on YT who still does them. Perhaps next time instead of bad movies you co7uld pick "hard" movies, meaning movies that you never find the time or disposition to watch, like some criterion titles or a silent movie, or a Colombian movie (Im colombian), that type of thing that aren't necessarily easy watches but that could reap you a better reward
@terrytalksmoviesАй бұрын
I have a bunch of those. It's a good idea, thanks.

Terry: You're a brave and talented soul for enduring this film marathon. "The Wheel of Cinema"...LOL! I was intrigued by "Black Tight Killers". I went to YT to see the trailer. That's batshit crazy! Obvious where Tarentino gets his inspiration. Happy Holidays to you sir! Is Science Fiction Saturday(s) coming back soon?
@terrytalksmoviesАй бұрын
Back to normal next week. I promise. Black Tight Killers is whacky fun. It might've been the most enjoyable of all 12 movies.

Seen Enter the Dragon, OC and Stiggs, Madame Web, Refer Madness, Die Hard and Point Blank. I agree about OC & Stiggs, doesn't quite work. Point Blank, love that sequence of Marvin walking down that corridor being intense. Never realized that Marvin is playing the same character as Duvall in The Outfit (thanks QT). Good idea to break the marathon up. How about next time, 3 hour films so there's less to choose from? Epics only. Happy Holidays!
@terrytalksmoviesАй бұрын
That epic film thing is a possibility. Marvin had total control over Point Blank. Script, cast, director, the lot. He just won an Oscar. Walked into the studio head's office and said "I cede my rights to John Boorman' and walked out.

I love Showgirls. It's so energetic and wildly over the top. Point Blank is a real 60s treasure. I spinning when is great!

Showgirls is fun with some great bad dialogue. Point Blank is sui generis.

Out of those, I’d personally only rewatch these (I’ve watched them all in the fairly near past and all multiple times): - The Third Man (1949) - Point Blank (1967) - Easy Rider (1969) - Enter the Dragon (1973) - Die Hard (1988) - TimeCrimes (2007)

The point is to mix ones I really want to watch with ones I have nightmares about watching.

@@terrytalksmovies I understand. However, life’s too short as it is. I like thematic weekend marathons like Godfather I & II followed by Goodfellas.

So Terry -- when you sit down to watch/enjoy (hopefully) a movie on physical media (no adverts) -- do you find that you treat it like watching a film in a movie theater? No breaks, get your snacks before the show starts and no rushing to the bathroom until it is all over? Or are you more 'chill' and just pause as needed?
@terrytalksmoviesАй бұрын
As much as possible I watch them all the way through but I have a diuretic medication that sometimes necessitates quick toilet breaks.
@aengusmacnaughton1375Ай бұрын
@@terrytalksmovies I find that if I am in the mental state of treating it like a theatrical showing, I get much more absorbed in watching the movie, than if I treat it more like 'TV watching' for an evening. But yes -- somehow in later life I have ended up with a bladder the size of a walnut and a prostate the size of an orange -- but I still love to drink hot (English-style) tea -- so the PAUSE button can come in handy!!!
@captlazer5509Ай бұрын
If I had to pick the worst film, it's OC & Stiggs. Love Robert Altman movies. Love National Lampoon magazine, what could go wrong? Everything! Altman had some personal issues going on making this movie. It's called cocaine. Too bad it translated into a hot mess. That movie was so bad that it was shelved for a year by the studio. You are on point, Terry. The source material from the National Lampoon issue The Utterly Monsterous Mind-Roasting Summer Of OC and Stiggs was both insane and brilliant. The OC & Stiggs movie was directed by the Schwab family. Happy Holiday to you, MAGG and Luna.
@terrytalksmoviesАй бұрын
Thanks! Keith Lemon is infinitely worse than OC and Stiggs.

Nice to get a brief view of your watching space, which I've always been curious about. I imagine you sitting there with your eyes clamped open, like Alex in A Clockwork Orange, and Middle Aged Geek Grrrl dripping caffeine drops into them. I'm afraid we Australians have to answer for Andre Rieu - just like with ABBA Australia was his launching pad. That you have now sat through both Andre Rieu and Keith Lemon TWICE for our benefit will surely count in your favour on the Last Day. I'll bet Mark Kermode hasn't watched Keith Lemon twice! I havent seen Soldier Blue, although revisionist Westerns are the only Westerns I can watch. Interesting to see that the soundtrack was the debut of Roy Budd. The director when on to make The Wilby Conspiracy, with Caine and Poitier and a great villain in Nicol Williamson...
@terrytalksmoviesАй бұрын
Hi Neale. The Wilby Conspiracy is a great film and I've liked Nicol Williamson in everything he ever did. (He even performed Darktown Strutters Ball at the White House for Nixon once). Soldier Blue is worth checking out. The Roy Budd soundtrack, with the theme song by Buffy Saint-Marie is anachronistic but it works.
@nealepaterson3496Ай бұрын
@terrytalksmovies I have had a Williamson obsession ever since Excalibur, and have tracked down most of his movies, many of which are hard to find. Extraordinary actor. I wouldn't recommend his LPs - trying to get in on the Richard Harris market, but pretty cringey, like all those filmstar crossover records from the late 60s/early 70s. Still, they'd fit nicely on one of your Spotify playlists...
@aengusmacnaughton1375Ай бұрын
Catching up a few days on. Hmmm -- I think next time you should allow MAGG to pick *ALL* of the films on the wheel!!!!

@aengusmacnaughton1375Ай бұрын
@@terrytalksmovies 😁😁😁😁 Hmmm -- even better idea. Two 12-hour marathons -- first is *YOU* watching, but *MAGG* choosing what goes on the "Wheel of Misfortune" -- then the second day/marathon is *MAGG* watching, but *YOU* choose. And she has to give a 1-3 minute 'review' of each movie she watched for your channel!

@DavidHembrowАй бұрын
I think you've slightly misinterpreted Andre Rieu. I'm not a fan - he's far too cheesy for me, but he's very popular here in the Netherlands. Rather than being elitist he gives access to classical music to normal people, who dress up for the occasion, as does everyone on stage of course. If you want to see real elitism, with a crowd made up of properly wealthy white people, wearing properly expensive clothes, try the live Vienna New Year's concert broadcast. It's magnificent in its own way but i feel like a class traitor if I watch that.
@nealepaterson3496Ай бұрын
Rieu was championed in Australia by a chap working for Decca called Cyrus Meher-Homji, who I was acquainted with many years ago. He was a very serious and knowledgeable musician and music journalist, and he really put his reputation on the line, but he knew a crowd-pleaser when he saw one, in spite of everyone's advice, and he ended up saving the label and putting the money into other excellent projects. Basically, Rieu cashed in on the last audience who just didn't get downloading or streaming, and would actually pay for physical product. I guess he really should be welcome on this channel 😊 I watched part of one of Rieu's videos once, and was amused by just how contemptuous he was towards his rich and elderly audience...

LOL. The guy with the Zither was fun but then they did a song from Titanic, which I admit I FFed through.

I think you should substitute movies that are good, but not your cup of tea for the truly bad movies. You might find something to like if you watch an unliked movie in a positive light. I like this format, but maybe try to schedule the second set of movies upon awakening after a night's sleep.

Well, that was fun ! A movie marathon (a cheat, more later), some of your famed movie reviews, and a sort of 'wheel of fortune' game show. A couple of minor gripes :- 1) It clearly was NOT a 24 hr movie marathon as you claimed. It was 2 12 hr marathons ... not the same. And BTW you should have stuck around to the end of that Andre Ree-Ugh thing. There was some weird shit went on in the last 30 mins. 2) I've seen 'Point Blank' and 'Soldier Blue'. Both ace movies. However, you mispronounced Soldier Blue actor Dana Elcar's name. It's actually pronounced Darna Ellcarr and not Darna Eclair, which makes him sound like a danish pastry. Although TBH, by the 1980s when he'd landed the role as Macgyver's boss, he'd clearly scoffed a few of those. Anyway Terry, stupid jokes over. Have a Merry Christmas, Terry and Sal
