Ayyyy! Great to see an American who's moved Johnny Furphy into the lottery! I'm an Australian hoops nerd, so I've been watching Furphy's progress closely for the past few years. This Aussie kid is an absolute jet, and he's looked excellent playing for the NBA Global Academy here in Australia for the past couple of years. I knew he'd be this good in college once he got the chance.... so it's great to see he's finally getting the recognition I've been waiting to see for the past couple of years. My NBA comparison for Johnny Furphy's ceiling is a young Gordon Hayward/young Joe Ingles hybrid. Unfortunately, NBA fans never got to see YOUNG Joe Ingles, but he was a 6'8" bouncy SG/SF with LOOOONG arms, a good passer, good shooter, disruptive defensively, and he would dunk on everyone that wasn't paying attention. You'd be surprised how athletic Ingles was in his early 20s! Sounds like Furphy, right??? 😅😅

if the Spurs can land Ron Holland with their pick in this draft and then get the Toronto pick and get Dillingham then my god how do you even deal with that lineup in a few years if/when they all develop.
@JetHoops8 ай бұрын
I feel like the dream would be Topic with their pick
@SilentGhostSG8 ай бұрын
@@JetHoops can't remedy the issues with Topics defense, shot creation and shooting, last thing the Spurs need is a lead guard who hurts their spacing and reduces the potential options of a PnR with Vic, a guy like Rob makes it impossible to guard completely with his shooting, improved PnR capability and renewed selflessness. Spurs also just need an elite POA defender at the 3 to throw at the best players in the league, especially the quicker guards Sochan can't keep up with and also a transition threat to help compliment Vic already being the best transition big in the league hence getting Ron with their first pick.

This really does seem like the type of draft where you'd rather have two mid-late lottery picks rather than a top three pick. No one really stands out at a guaranteed star (though my favorites are Stephon Castle and Matas Buzelis). The Spurs have their own pick plus the Raptors pick (protected 1-6), so I like their chances to get two lottery picks to surround Victor with passing and shooting.

Thoughts on whether the 'modern NBA game' is impacting the type of players that are coming up in the draft... it seems like shooting is weak overall and we only have a few actual PGs to choose from.

Jared McCain will shock people because of this. Everyone is all over the place with this draft don’t be surprised if the draft is way off from most mock drafts. Where is CSU's Isaiah Stevens? He's averaging 16.5 points and leads the nation in assists while also being a good defender for his size. I know him only being 6'1 will definitely make teams skeptical but I think a team like the suns or the lakers could really use a good, more traditional point guard to come off of the bench for them.

Don’t sleep on Zyon Pullin from Florida. He’s an older prospect, but he’s been the ultimate leader since transferring in from UC Riverside. 6’4 at 205lbs PG. 10th in the SEC in scoring, 2nd in assists, 1st in assist-to-turnover ratio and shoots 40% from deep. Honestly as a Duke fan I have lost faith in flip being a great nba prospect, he disappears against other nba talent, his athleticism is awful, and his perimeter skills aren’t at the level where I’d say he will warrant a number one option. I feel like his game is eerily similar to frank kaminsky coming out of college and I just don’t see a situation where flip provides an elite skill. I could just be overreacting to a slow stretch but I’ve been disappointed in his play. (Also hunter silias might be the steal of the draft)

😴 On Cody Williams he should go number one…. JDub was slept on now look. Both of them idolize Kobe and Mamba mentality and JDub is SGA’s protégé this matters in this case I’m confident Cody will have the proper work ethic and training to maximize his game and athletic abilities. Ppl who overanalyze his college tape will regret it it’s not always about that, pure potential and realistic projections of growth to stardom are more important and he has all the physical tools, maturity, and surrounding support to achieve it
