Colts really should hve been higher than 7..no team in the league had at least four players on the dline wit 8+ sacks.. And that was from players that still has Alot of upside because of still being soo young.. And ebukam just got the first opportunity to play full time and he had 9.5 and he's just out if his rookie contract as well.. And dayo and Lewis both are still young along with quitty.. And you add in latu and Davis.. That's nothing but good young talent that still has room to prove they can be great.. That is a deep young group with good stats already put on film and they all could make a jump in production this year and that's not even including defo and Grove.. No other team is that deep they only have one to three decent players and if those players get hurt those other teams have no debth at all.. Colts dline coach bout to have fun with this group this year and I can't wait to c it... COLTSNATION is top three easily wit dline.. And we bout to show it.. I'd rather have 8 above avarage players that still has room to get better than two big names all day..

I think the Ravens defensive line is the most underrated unit in the league. They have the best statistics that matter. The sacks, pressures, points allowed, run stopping or whatever. The depth is absolutely unmatched imo. Who else finished first in statistics and got ranked 12th or something?
@basher51076 ай бұрын
Yeah they should have kept Clowney😂
@Fortune_888626 ай бұрын
They arent ranking the entire defs just the Dlines and the ravens LBs and DBs have more sacks & pressures then their lineman did last year. The dline only produced 19.5 of their 60 sacks and Madubuike had 13 of them.
@jeremiahw13696 ай бұрын
@Fortune_88862 The pressure packages can not be used if the defensive line isn't working properly. They stopped the running game to force 3rd and long in the first place, and then are heavily involved in either occupying blockers and then dropping into passing lanes or pocket crushing. To say a defensive line isn't really responsible for leading the league in sacks, imo is madness. Madubuike did have 13 of them himself, but the other guys were all doing the dirty work extremely well to help free something up. Also, the olbs are mostly defensive ends in this situation. They drop into coverage sometimes, but mostly are responsible for wrestling with the tackles like traditional 43 ends. I would like an example of some other defense that led the league in sacks and points allowed and takeaways that were credited more to the scheme than the talent.
@Fortune_888626 ай бұрын
@@jeremiahw1369 You clearly say the defensive line group is the best and they have the stats that matters above sacks etc to justify why they are the best. Now that iv pointed out its not the dline who actually has the larger percentage of those stats on the defense, You're saying it's not the stats but the impact they have on the rest of the team to get those stats which makes them the best. You just changed the justification and came to the same conclusion lol. Im sure when they rank the DBs groups and the Ravens are ranked high because of all those stats your aren't going to say they should be lower because its actually the dline that makes all those sacks and pressures happen. These rankings are based off the individual ability of every player and their combined grades. They are 12th because while the defense is the best overall in the NFL, that particular group on a player to player basis is not.
@jeremiahw13696 ай бұрын
@Fortune_88862 I appreciate the debate honestly because your opinion is winning, and I believe mine should. The stats argument is that the defensive line group is responsible for the sacks, takeaways, and points allowed being the best in the league. The secondary level can only be the best if the front end is also the best defense. The job of the defensive line group for the Ravens is not to go get stats. They're 2 gapping and building a solid running wall that the linebackers and dbs can scrape and fill at will. The linemen often sacrifice their own pass rush to free someone else. They have different responsibilities than other front 4 units, but the result of the work was the best defense in the league, and the first one to finish first in points allowed, sacks and takeaways in the same season. This isn't an accomplishment that I associate with the 12th best d line in football. Player for players: A lot of the guys are simply better, bigger, and stronger than the rating services seem to think. Travis Jones, Michael Peirce, and Brent Urban are not guys that get moved off the line of scrimmage. Oweh gets a lot of disrespect because his sack numbers haven't been high, but his win rates and pressures are, and he runs a 4.3. Van Noy had his best season. Tavius Robinson played a lot of good snaps last year. Those guys all have bad madden ratings, but in reality, they have dominated the matches with Cleveland and all pro guards and tackles. If they were getting blocked up front, none of the other playmakers would be able to make the plays.

I'm a Chargers fan. Assuming these rankings do not include edge rushers Mack, Bosa, Dupree or Tuipulotu, who are designated OLB on the depth chart. I feel #22 is a bit high for the Chargers, I would've guessed a bottom 5 ranking for the DL unit. It's the roster unit that was most seriously neglected during Telesco's GMship. I think Harbaugh will change that, but outside of one 3rd day pick, they didn't address it seriously in the draft. They added Poona Ford in FA, but he's not going to be a huge upgrade. Two of Harbaugh's Michigan monsters will be in next year's draft. Hopefully the Chargers aren't in position to draft Mason Graham but I'd be happy if they snagged Kenneth Grant. He would be a massive upgrade for the Bolts' IDL, with emphasis on "massive."
