It's a mailbag heavy show as Ahmed (@ahmedNBC) asks Chris (@CSimmsQB) as many of your draft and free agency questions as we can get to. But first, Simms has some more underrated WR prospects to shout out, and also tells Ahmed what advice he gave to Aaron Jones when he saw him at Madison Square Garden. Plus, Simms has a theory about Ahmed's sweatiness.
(0:00) Draft Groupthink: Why is there so much consensus in NFL prospect analysis?
(13:40) 2024 Draft WR Sleepers: Chris gives additional shoutouts to Ladd McConkey (Georgia), Jermaine Burton (Alabama), Devontez Walker (North Carolina), and Johnny Wilson (Florida State).
(26:45) RB Market: Aaron Jones asked Chris for solutions for RBs who want to get paid more.
(36:15) #AskMeAnything WR Ranks: Chris answers the pushback to his thoughts on Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr, Marvin Harrison, and Rome Odunze.
(51:45) Draft QBs: Does Caleb Williams struggle over the middle of the field? Why does everyone other than Chris love Drake Maye?
(57:50) Top 10 Draft Teams: What should the Cardinals, Chargers, Giants, Falcons, and Bears do early in the draft?
(1:11:40) Crossfit GM: Simms about his career goals and working out.
(1:15:00) Team Needs: What holes do the Jets, Steelers, Rams, and Lions still have?

I don't know why people get upset at rankings. Honestly, I think your breakdown is great. I don't agree with all of it, but at least you back it up with "the why". Most "analysts" out there just parrot consensus takes, at least you scout the players yourself. When I first stumbled on your channel, I really wasn't a fan; but you've won me over, and for the last couple of years, this has become one of my favorite shows. I rewatch many episodes multiple times. Keep doing you, you're f*cking awesome.

Same here, this is the first analysis I've ever seen from Ahmed and Simms. I almost didn't watch because of the perception of Simms. But I was way off. These guys know their shit and i just found a new podcast that comes at a different angle than most sports podcasts.. I usually never go with the crowd. I do my own research on an individual or a news story. I did for Simms and it's just a reminder to do my research and not assume the worst because a high paid analyst says Simms takes are horrible

I think the reason no one would say You're crazy for your top 5 NFL WR is that there is no consensus about that. People don't scout players themselves, but they know there is a consensus among mock drafters that Harrison is the best WR in the draft or at worse second, so when you say he is not it's easy for them to call you out.

The running back market is not free. They are the biggest victim of the rookie wage scale. The rookie running backs would be able to get the top of the market money from the start if not for the draft. I agree with Chris about the solution possibilities tied to incentive based pay bringing any productive back up to market rate. Then, the cycle of getting replaced by a new draft pick would be broken, and meritocracy would rule the regulated, not free market.

@OK-zq8ut
@OK-zq8ut 3 ай бұрын
Good point, but the NFL isn't a free market. Players are forced out of the draft into a contract that ties them for 3 to 5 years. I agree with Simms, RBs like Pacheco shouldn't be forced to play for 5 years under miniscule contracts (while contributing greatly to Superbowls) then thrown away because of the nature of the position (shorter life span which will be used against him if he reaches free agency).

Chargers have literal door dashers as receivers, you know what helps the run game? Having a passing game and receiver's that can get separation (which none currently on the roster have been able to do) and get open when they need it. This is the NFL not college and its changed since Jim was here last and any team that did anything last year had a top tier WR or TE, the chargers currently have neither of those. They're going Nabers at 5, this OL at 5 bullshit needs to stop, they're currently paying the RT 10mil a year and you want him to be a back up for 10mil a year.. miss me with that shit man. IF they trade back it better be for bowers at 11 and then with the late first you can go OL DL or CB, but a LT who you want to convert to RT which has a terrible track record of NOT working in the NFL at 5 is not it. Nabers or Bowers with their first pick and thats it.

Not the actual game that tells you everything about the stats?? Simms should’ve slapped you across the face after hearing that. A football analyst, when wanting to understand a football team more, goes to the stats before going to the actual play. (Breaking news: Ahmed will never go to the actual film and watch it. Scimms... It's extremely rare in the NFL for the backup QB to shine in comparison to the starter!!! JONES -DJ is not a QB to build a team around.. I 100% lost hope in him last season...

His rankings are exactly where I would put them, up to number 4. MHJ is by far the most overrated player in the draft. He is all media hype

@@isaiahh4108 I didn’t think it was debatable about Quentin Johnston not being top 5 last year. I also thought rashee rice was clear top 5 and had Jordan Addison WR1. Sure no one’s perfect but this guys a straight bozo (like all these GMS)

@@sanjaykumar-gr6ml I still think Johnston has the highest ceiling of the last years class Addison shocked me he looked more explosive than I thought he’d be and Rice was lucky to go to KC

@@isaiahh4108 I’ve been studying this all my life bro. Watch the film! Quentin Johnston wasn’t a guaranteed bust but the amount for red flags made it obvious to leave him out of top 5. He can stay in the league and be decent but that’s not what u want from a first rounder. Rice was so slept on, it’s not a coincidence Andy Reid and his Super Bowl winning organization saw that! He’s legit, it’s not just mahomes
Wait for the last one! 👀
