The running back market is not free. They are the biggest victim of the rookie wage scale. The rookie running backs would be able to get the top of the market money from the start if not for the draft. I agree with Chris about the solution possibilities tied to incentive based pay bringing any productive back up to market rate. Then, the cycle of getting replaced by a new draft pick would be broken, and meritocracy would rule the regulated, not free market.

@OK-zq8ut8 ай бұрын
Good point, but the NFL isn't a free market. Players are forced out of the draft into a contract that ties them for 3 to 5 years. I agree with Simms, RBs like Pacheco shouldn't be forced to play for 5 years under miniscule contracts (while contributing greatly to Superbowls) then thrown away because of the nature of the position (shorter life span which will be used against him if he reaches free agency).

Chargers have literal door dashers as receivers, you know what helps the run game? Having a passing game and receiver's that can get separation (which none currently on the roster have been able to do) and get open when they need it. This is the NFL not college and its changed since Jim was here last and any team that did anything last year had a top tier WR or TE, the chargers currently have neither of those. They're going Nabers at 5, this OL at 5 bullshit needs to stop, they're currently paying the RT 10mil a year and you want him to be a back up for 10mil a year.. miss me with that shit man. IF they trade back it better be for bowers at 11 and then with the late first you can go OL DL or CB, but a LT who you want to convert to RT which has a terrible track record of NOT working in the NFL at 5 is not it. Nabers or Bowers with their first pick and thats it.
