I feel like Steve really undersold how bad the Daniel Jones/Saquon Barkley situation is. I feel like most people were shocked by the Jones contract because there seemed to be a pretty strong belief that he was being propped up by Daboll. Had he been tagged, now it would be easy to cut bait and take a QB this year, and you could have used that remaining money to give Barkley an extension that was likely a 3 year front loaded deal. Now they're stuck with Jones and having to tag barkley for a second year, likely paying him more than they would have by extending him last offseason. Complete mishandling of that whole situation by the Giants front office.

They wouldn’t have been able to sign anyone last offseason cuz the QB tag is hefty and you can’t constricted they basically overpaid by 10 mil this year to have 20 last year when they had no cap

Yeah it’s not too long of a deal i think they could get out of it this year. But the point is they misevaluated their team because of that playoff birth last year and thought they could continue to grow with this squad by just resigning the already expensive pieces… the bad news was that they had actually hit their ceiling with that squad already and needed to continue rebuilding. Now they are 2 years behind on the inevitable rebuild and probably won’t compete till 2025

Yes, he was coming off an injury of "2021" but he is not worth the money that they are paying him currently. I'd rather have Tyler Boyd than Michael Gallup at this moment and TB would be cheaper, but since Gallup is tied up with practially another 2 years till we can get off his contract without hitting millions of dead money we might have to keep him sadly.
