Welcome to the 2024 Summer Olympics celebration in Paris, France! This is an exciting time where athletes from all over the world come together to compete to become the best in the world. The torch that lights the cauldron to start the Olympics travels all the way from Olympia, Greece to Paris, France. There are people from 206 countries that will compete in 32 sports.
The Olympic rings represent the inhabited continents Oceania, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Pierre de Coubertin first designed the Olympic rings with the five colors plus a white background to represent the colors of all national flags. The overlapping rings symbolize unity and the coming together of athletes from all over the world.
Leo competes in Long Jump at the Olympics. He has big feelings preparing for the Olympic sport. He takes deep breaths to help him relax and focus. Ms. Magic mentions that luck is when preparation meets opportunity. This means that Leo has prepared for this moment and is ready to compete. He breaks the world record for Long Jump and wins the Gold medal.
The Gold medal represents first place. The silver medal represents second place. The bronze medal represents third place. There are two opportunities in the video for the children to practice what they learn about the medals. They match the word with the medal. Then there is a pattern where they help say the order of the medals from first to third place with gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Another part of the video includes dogs competing in high jump. This section is to help children use their imaginations to see another Summer Olympic sport. They must compare the jumping animals and decide who jumps higher.
Learn about the history of the Olympics with interesting facts about how the Olympics began and with what games. When the Olympics first started they didn’t receive medals. They received wreaths of olives to go on their head as a winning prize. As time went on more games were added to the Olympics. Now the Olympics happens every 4 years in a different part of the world. There are the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics.

The Paralympics are a series of international sports competitions for athletes with disabilities. They are held shortly after the Summer Olympics in Paris, France. They include wheelchair basketball, blind football, para cycling and so much more.
The Playground Olympics is a fun section where the bunny competes against the duck. The duck gets a better time and wins the gold medal. They both run through the obstacle course at the playground to compete against each other.
