What do you mean RDJs role was not important, his acting while subtle conveyed so many emotions and obviously was key to the story.

It’s a good performance but we don’t find his storyline nearly as compelling

It was an Oscar-baity, hammy performance… Charles Melton should’ve been nominated and won…

I loved Oppie. If I had to rank it, It would me my 3rd favourite from Nolan after Interstellar and the prestige and love the fact that he and his team has won it for a great movie. The movie gets better and better the more I watch it.

It’s a really ambitious film and getting all that cast and crew together to pull off that stuff is super impressive and I love that there’s no CGI in it

Should probably retitle this video to "Fuck Oppenheimer" I don't think that you guys think the movie sucks, but the way you talk about it, it's like the worst movie of the last decade or something. It was my 2nd favorite movie I've watched this year next to the Holdovers. Any Nolan film is a treat to experience.

The book American Prometheus, which Nolan adapted into Oppenheimer, was incredible detailed. Like Christopher mentioned in his acceptance speech, American Prometheus took two decades to research and write by the two co-authors. Props to the director/writer/producer of Oppenheimer for successfully interpreting those text into not only a visceral cinematic experience of sound and sight, but of tickling our philosophical quandary whilst taking us on this emotional journey... like no other films he had created in the past, granted Interstellar surpassed this biopic in terms of sci-fi masterpiece.

I have read the book and really the way adapted such a dense and detailed book. is truly amazing.

When the film first came out I thought he was going to sweep adapted screenplay all season, and I think it would’ve been deserved. I bet Nolan was having Oppenheimer-style troubled visions while he was writing.

You guys do realize that the nominees are not cometing with with their own filmography but competing against other movies from this year.

Dont get me wrong, but you might have some of the worst takes on some of these movies escpecially when it comes to Oppenheimer. But loved the reaction of dissapointment on your faces.

Dont get these old dudes and gals doing best Pictures. They usually stuff it up. Also, why do the winner announcements always sound like someone talking at a funeral. Wheres the excitement? Cate Blanchett did it best when she announced Eddie Redmayne

Lmao that was funny. Oppenheimer was easily my favorite of Nolan’s films on just about every level. I don’t really understand y’all’s hate for it in cinematography or editing, I thought it was definitely the best in those categories. Just the way y’all talk about it makes it seem like Nolan made a piece of shit which is weird. Was happy Zone won in sound. My favorite actress of the year was Sandra but any of the top three would’ve been deserving so I was happy for Emma.

I don’t really understand how you thought the cinematography was the best of the nominees. Sandra was my pick as well, wish she got a supporting nom for zone.

I’ll join the dissent, Oppenheimer was about 7th for me out of the 10, but I’m still glad it won.

Pretty much agree with everything you said about Oppenheimer. It's great but there were better films. Editing had issues with the pacing. There were far better cinematography films of 2023. I hate how they used the score throughout almost the entirety with no breathing room. RDJ's performance was good but it felt like a typical RDJ performance everyone overhyped because he was overdue for an award and had the most screen time out of the other supporting actors. I prefer Benny Safdie and Josh Hartnett.
@tommykevans36 ай бұрын
Glad you agree. The score and editing never stop. And yeah, RDJ doesn’t even give the best supporting performance in his own film!

Nolan has been my favourite director for many years. Top 3: Prestige, Interstellar, Memento. Oppenheimer might not be his best film but definitely most ambitious. Inception, for me, would be second worst, just after Tenet. These for me are technical masterpieces but sacrifice storytelling for the sake of a gimmick.
