That looked like a long pull from the front for the Canadian. They wound it up with 1.5 to go..the Canadian on the front from the start...long pull. Where were the Americans????

Due to a very small budget USA Cycling doesn't develop or pay for any sprint/short distance track cyclists or male endurance/long distance track cyclists. Only female endurance track cyclists like Jennifer Valente are taken care of by them. They have to stretch their money to also pay for road cyclists, BMX cyclists, and mountain cyclists. Even with their small budget they just performed better than all Team USA disciplines except for Swimming and Track & Field. They even outperformed USA Gymnastics when using the gold medals (tied at 3) and silver medals tiebreaker for medal table comparisons. Kristen Faulkner made all the difference in the world. The USA women's team pursuit haven't won a single international race since 2020 but thanks to rookie Faulkner being a fantastic cyclist Team USA won their first ever team track cycling Olympic gold!

I have to disagree. The US women's long track program has been strong since Sarah Hammer was around. They placed well at world championships since around 2013. Yesterday, at the Izu Velodrome about 2.5 hours south of Tokyo, the U.S. women’s team pursuit squad won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. In this four-person race against the clock, the team of 2016 Olympic silver medalists Chloé Dygert and Jennifer Valente, plus Olympic rookies Emma White and Megan Jastrab beat Canada in the bronze-medal match-up, covering 4,000 meters on the track in 4:08.040 to Canada’s 4:10.552.
