I love the wrap ups and vlogs! Don't feel too bad about not doing the individual reviews. This goals check is also great to watch! I guess watching youtube/booktube is about the parasocial relationships, and this type of video and the vlogs and the monthly letters make me really feel like I know you, and I like knowing you because your life seems to have many parallels to mine, and it is very nice to see how you are dealing with these things. I *so* recognise how there can be tasks that you know will make you happy when they are done, but I still just do not do them, and I feel stupid for not doing this thing that's bothering me that would only take 15 mins, like vacuuming. Anyway, hope your next quarter will feel better, and thank you for making videos :)

Thank you so much for saying this. Vaccuuming is the worst. Yes, it's like a few minutes and then you'd feel better, but still I spend hours thinking about it instead of just doing it. Have a wonderful day!

I can relate to your work situation! We hired someone a few years ago to help with my workload but he ended up creating more work for me😂 I have finally washed my hands of him though and no longer care if he gets it or not…I’m in a different department now 🎉 Q1 for me was a blur. I read 15 books which is basically what I was hoping for! Today I’m at home with COVID my first time to get it 😅 and it has knocked me off my feet for the past few days. But it has given me time to reflect so, am I happy? Not super happy but I think I’m content despite everything. I hope you have a lovely spring season. The cherry blossoms in my part of Japan have more green than pink now which means spring is here 🌸🍃

Oh I had that 2 years ago, such a disappointment when you expect help and it just is more work. Good on you for breaking with that and hope the new department is better. Being content is great. I think we always forget that content is the longterm situation and happy just moments. Thanks for the reminder. Also get well soon, I hope COVID leaves fast and fully so you can enjoy spring.

Half marathon by June. Yay! You'll get there, you are a great runner, Wiebke. Please let us know how it's going. I wish I could motivate you with "kudos" on Strava but I realize you are not on there so I will do it here; Kudos!!! Please record snippets from your runs. Bye now

Thank you. I sometimes post runs on Instagram, but never got into regular postings and strava.

Your reflections on how your reading feels (vs. actual goals) was interesting and something I've been thinking about lately as well. Though for me that also includes a social media question on what my (online shared) reading looks like or how my reading is changed because of that. And I don't mean that in a bad way at all. Finding the online book world has done mostly good things for my reading life, but sometimes there's the books that maybe I want to read, but don't necessarily want to talk about/share online or just the very superficial, do I break the spine or not, do I care about which edition/format I read. Anyways, there’s some things I’m trying to get back form my pre-online reading while still sharing online? Idk time will tell how that goes. I wasn’t going to have any reading goals this year, but them somehow ended up joining three challenges (with reading prompts that you have to read books for) So far, I’m on track but I’m not going to stress about it if I don’t end up completing all. Totally understand your feelings about individual review video’s. for what it’s worth, I like your reading vlogs and wrap-ups just as much. Just go with what feels best for you in the moment. Hope Q2 (and all that follow) will be good to you! I don’t really do goals so much, though currently definitely working on improving my food habits (I too love chocolate a little too much) and just feeling fitter in general. So far progress is more of a wavy line than an upwards one, but hopefully we’ll finally have better weather soon to improve my mood and actually feel motivated to get up and do stuff. (Seriously, why is it always raining..)

Thanks NIcole. So much yes to the rain and cold! I was asking myself why I keep seeing snow in my IG stories! I totally get trying to find the balance between reading and sharing. I was thinking the other day whether all of this would matter or bother me so much if I had people IRL near me who read the same books and make goals. Literally no one I know thinks goals are a valid way to achieve things and my brother keeps hating on habits while he really could benefit from the theory. Ah well, I guess that's why we keep sharing on the internet. That's where we find people to talk to about the things we can't IRL. Hope you find a balance that makes you feel good. And for now I gained some control over chocolate consumption, I hope it sticks a while longer :D

@@1book1review Haha yeah, some of these thigns are very much part of the online world and not at all a thing for people who aren't part of (that part) of the internet.

Tidiness is overrated. Feeling good about things is certainly a good goal. Yoga, morning walk, all things I would like to do also; Maybe not a marathon. 🙃 Haven't achieved anything in the first quarter. It's over already? 😳🤣

You can start any day to catch up on goals. The beauty of daily goals or habits to tick off is that you get a fresh chance to hit them every day.

Hi, Wiebke! I relate to you regarding your life goals and how you are trying to identify and do more of what makes you feel good, what makes you feel right about yourself. I like that you try to keep a balanced pov and recognize society’s at times toxic messaging to women. Out of personal interest for my own yoga practice, and if you do KZbin yoga videos, do you recommend anyone? I like Lesley Fightmaster’s archived videos (she has passed, but there are hundreds of videos) and Melissa West, who is a long-time, experienced teacher who focuses on the body-mind connection. P. S. I finally started Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop, which I ordered from my library based on your review.

Thanks Kimberly, I've recently been watching a lot of minimalism videos and they reminded me of the power of small changes and habits, making me pay more attention to this goal again. And it is so true. I tried a few different Yoga people in the beginning but I now only watch Sara Beth Yoga, I like her voice and style of videos, no background distraction and I prefer the non-woowoo ones ;) I'm tempted to get her app, but can't really afford this luxuary atm.

I'm afraid you're right about chocolate/comfort foods. I changed my diet about 5 years ago - no chocolate and very little sugar. I've lost a lot of weight, and I've kept it off. Physically I feel better, but mentally not so much. Maybe sometime in the future it will get easier. But it hasn't happened yet.

Ah sorry to hear that. I actually caved and bought a favorite chocolate, just one bar, last night and today I feel better. My hope for the future is to have more balance to eat a bit every now and again without having to eat too much every day. Be proud of yourself for making the big and difficult change and sticking with it! I hope your mental health will improve as well. You got this!

For the sugar thing, perhaps cut it out of things that you could do without. For example I used to order triple triples (coffee with 3 sugar 3 milk). I've reduced down to just milk in my coffee. Makes me feel less guilty about having chocolate.

Yeah, my strategy as well, I mostly just drink water and coffe with milk these days.
