Breaking fast time is 7.30. Most office workers live outside the city. That's why it's less crowded as it gets darker. Go to the one in Kampung Baru (Jalan Raja Alang) around 5pm. They even have archway at the entrance that says 'Bazaar Ramadhan'. if u want to wish people near breaking fast time it's 'Selamat Berbuka' (Happy breaking fast) 🎉

Roti John is typically laden with mayonnaise & sweet chili sauce and that's why it's a hit among Malaysians, less to foreigners. We love sourness, spiciness & sweetness in our food as compared to westerners who are more familiar with saltiness. Thats why pizza with pineapple can survive here 🍍🍍🍍 But nowadays the variety has expanded you can try Roti John that might cater to your pallate better by requesting for blackpepper/barbecue sauce and go easy on the mayo & sweet chili sauce. There's also cheesy sauce in many places and some even have mustard sauce with them. You decide.

Yes the roti john is really nothing special, but its a classic Ramadan staple along with murtabak, probably the reason for the queue. Though roti john is actually commonly available all year round.
