I was there sitting by judges. There was no robbery. Akim from front and side is awesome. However as always his back double biceps is very weak and midsection was not as tight. Rafa was sharper than Akim and has better balance. Akim has some crazy shots and density but he loses by atleast two poses due to weaknesses.

@@Kratossterone Look more carefully, and don't listen to what others say. His muscularity is different, and the upper back is heavily muscled. Middle back to lower back is lacking, but not as much as people are claiming if you look at it objectively. Some people are claiming that Akim has no back at all. Silly. Look at front and back lat spread, and don't focus only on mid-lower back. Look at his traps in the back. Awesome and large and if he didn't have a back, those would not show up on the upper back.

It's his lats, not his "back". He has crazy thick erectors and the rest of his upper back is decent. He just has the worst lat insertions ever, you basically can't even find the lower lat insertions, it's like they're only a few inches top to bottom.

Valid point, but his current physique is 100% achievable naturally, so it doesn't matter what he did in the past. You lose all your unnatural gains when you go off gear for a long period. So as long as their FFMI is below 25 and they are natural they should be allowed to compete. There are exceptions, though, such as in junior bodybuilding. It’s unrealistic to expect someone who has trained naturally for only five years to have an FFMI close to 25. However, a gear user could easily get a 25 FFMI training for the same 5 years, even if he went off gear a couple of years before the show. I competed in natural bodybuilding when I was junior against guys 15kg heavier than me (that I doubt were natural) and still won show after show. So I wasn't mad that they let them compete, it was a higher achievement for me.

I dunno what you're talking about, his back is thick (just look at his erectors, they're way bigger than anyone else), but he has no mid to lower lats genetically. That means he's lacking width, not depth. He has plenty of thickness through the upper back as well. But can you even find his lats from the back? I don't even see lower lat insertions at all, they must insert right below his shoulder blades.

Being a natural pro bodybuilder for over a decade and having won a couple world championships I agree that you can see top level natural physiques in most gyms, but not truly world caliber. There is definitely a difference, but yes freak factor does sell tickets. I just won my IFBB Pro Card this year while still being natural and am slated to do my first IFBB show as a natural. I also plan to remain as such as my health is more important. But you can still have some level of freak factor and be a natural athlete. They would be more in the bodybuilding and classic category rather than physique though

Yea it definitely wasnt a crazy robbery or anything. They both looked decent, judges preferred Raphael. In a sport thats almost 100% subjective its hard to be that upset about the outcomes. Akim has some pretty big weaknesses from the back. Nice to see him in decent shape though. I do really really like his shape from the front and his side shots are nice when he's in shape. Raphael took the W though, good for him. Made lots of improvements over the past year or so.
