Bosco was asked to change the opening part of the lyrics for the main chorus.
Here, he gives his explanation as to why he hasn't done this and why he thinks it
shouldn't be done.
I was asked if I could change something and put Oxossi
This was quite difficult once the thing was done, because of the metric
I talked about Oxúm twice - I did this for one reason
Because in the synopsis it was given quite an emphasis because Oxúm was the
Orixa of Tia Ciata
I therefore mention Oxúm in the second part of the song and the chorus
Now on the first time I mention (“Oxúm é Dandalunda”) I would have to have said
“Oxossi e Kabila”
But this doesnʼt quite fit the melody
Now in the main chorus I could do it and sing like this
Oh Oxossi
Axé da natureza
But then instead of Zaze I would have to say Kabila
Oh Kabila
Espirito Ancestral
Energia do meu carnaval
My problem there is that the use of the words Oxossi and Axé is not a very good
combination, the way you have to sing it, with the melody.
It makes it very difficult as it doesnʼt flow well.
This other thing is that it is followed by this:
Unidos vem saudar
Na crenca e na beleza
I put Beleza there as its one of the attributes of Oxúm.
Now some people might say Oxossi is beautiful
And beleza is beauty
I donʼt feel this is important
But if people feel this is important youʼre welcome to change it
And the puxador is going to have to work it out how he is going to deal with it
