2024 Southeast Overland Camping Expo

In this video I visit the 2024 Southeast Overland Camping Expo. This event is held in Petros TN and put on by TNT Overlander. I have not attended an overland type event before this, so this is from a newbie perspective. At this event they offer a vendor area, guided trail rides, instructional courses, raffles, camping/fellowship, onsite brewery/restaurant, and tours of the historic Brushy Mountain penitentiary. I thoroughly enjoyed myself at this event. If you enjoy camping and 4X4 vehicles this is something you should check out.

That’s my favorite part too. I enjoy seeing how other people build out their rigs. It’s funny that you are jealous of our Jeeps because I heard multiple people at this event drooling over Land Rover (older defender series) setups.

I don’t even know the difference honestly. I am new to this whole overland thing. I wouldn’t call myself an overlander either. I just go camping with my little Jeep trailer lol

I agree. I built my trailer by bartering around. So I’ve done it pretty economical. I honestly thought that my setup would have been considered on the luxury side at this event. I was definitely wrong. Mine was barely a step above a ground tent 😂

You could travel around the world comfortably many times with the cost of all this unnecessary BS people now add to their car. Camel Trophy had medical kits and RTT and that’s pretty much it. This stuff weighs so much and is so inefficient lol

I agree. You don’t think all those gadgets add up to much but it’s a substantial amount of weight. My little Jeep trailer is over 2,000 pounds now that I’ve added awnings, a tent, cooler and water storage. It got so heavy I had to add trailer brakes to it. Some people are Overloaders and not Overlanders lol

@@civilianjeeps just think, before the highway system FAMILIES drove out west on class 4 rounds in Model T Fords. Travel is the best education. You could do a lot of world travel with the cash spent on one of those rigs. I’ve done my share of overlanding and never needed anything other than good tires tent water and ground clearance.
