Eno and DVR start off Pitcher Week with the first installment of their 2024 Starting Pitcher Preview!
This episode focuses on the starting pitchers frequently being drafted within the first 100 picks of winter drafts.
For this series, players are grouped by recent Average Draft Position (ADP) data from the National Fantasy Baseball Championship (NFBC).

I'm glad you touched on Skubals unimpressive fastball shape. When you combine that with his innings concerns/injury concerns, his almost laughable strength of schedule during his run last year, and the lack of sample size with his suddenly improved command, I'm just not even close to drafting him where he's going. Oh yea and I know the home park is great but how many wins can we honestly project on top of all that? No thanks

Great show. Love listening about pitchers. I think Luis Castillo is a prime candidate to go over 200 innings probably hit around 220. Thanks for the baseball talk.

200 is at least possible for Castillo, and the list of pitchers you could reasonably say have a ceiling like that is shrinking, in part because of injuries and reliance on younger pitchers that are still building up toward that 'full' workload. - DVR

On a 1-10 scale, with 10 being the most likely to suffer an injury...my brain drops a '4' on Wheeler at this stage, and he continues to lower that number during this stretch in Philly. - DVR

The problem with Tyler glass now in points leagues is he’s probably not gonna hit. A lot of quality starts..

I need to look at the league-wide quality start rate to know if it's a problem, but 11/21 starts from Glasnow in 2023 were at least six innings and only three of 21 were less than five. Without checking to be sure, that seems like pretty typical workload for a starter, but it's possible that quicker hooks are a limiting factor if they are trying to moderate his in-start workloads by IP/TBF/pitches thrown. It's a lot of assumptions though, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Glasnow gets as many QS per start as other many other upper-tier starters. - DVR

Gallen should be tier 1, & I think Eury & Abbott get in their bag this year and put up huge numbers. Eury especially, he was limited but every time he was out there it was double digit strikes and little to no runs

Gallen has been top-10 in ERA and WHIP over the L2 seasons combined. Tier 1 in this case just means top-six among SPs, since that's where the pick cut-off happened to be. - DVR

Good grief, of course you got to go deep into the stock of pitchers. I can't stand those shows that give you the top 25 pitchers and think they're done. Of what value is that to me when I'm contemplating who I will pick as my last couple of starters in my 12 team league.
