Thank you for sharing about your little one’s bday and maturity to do school. My 3yo is 8/25 and I am leaning towards keeping him back when the time comes. A few 3yo in his Montessori daycare moved up to the 3-5 yo class. I asked to keep him in the younger class and the teacher said we made the right choice. He’s really thriving and LOVES helping the younger kids. When you think about it it’s so weird to have a hard date of when a kid goes to school vs wait another year. I’ll probably start some school but like you really focus on play and not push anything.

I’m so glad you listened to your intuition and let him “hang back” a little longer. It sounds like it was absolutely the right decision for him! And I agree! The concept of a hard date only makes sense in large educational institutions because they need to have a cut off in order to maintain organization and teach large numbers of kiddos together. But since we homeschool, that is no longer needed and it is better for our children to move at their own pace (whether that’s slower or faster than the “norm”). It took me a while to finally break out of the traditional school thinking that my child “has to be doing XYZ by this age” and once I did it became so obvious that hard dates and skills check lists are not for the benefit of the child, but for the benefit of the school. Which made it easier to let go of that type of thinking and begin to really thrive in our homeschool 🥰

I’m thinking of binding, too! How do you print that size booklet?

I think if you have windows there is a booklet settings on the printing screen! However, I have a Mac and they got rid of the booklet setting for some reason so I used a free resource called pdfsnake.app where I uploaded my file and clicked the booklet option and it changed it for me! 🥰

I love watching your videos! We have similar education approaches but I'm not as organized 🤣

Your children can sue you and your country once they are adults. They have the right to be taught by teachers. And any society that does not honour their teachers is to be pitied.

I appreciate your concern, but I’m NOT concerned about my children suing me in the future. They have the right to the best education and life experiences, which for us, is home education. They are thriving in their home education in comparison to our local education system and that’s all that matters. I have been their teacher and protector since the moment they were born and will continue to be until my last day. Have a great day!

This is such a weird comment, 😅 . Makes me giggle. Adults suing their parents over how they educated them.
