@@TheLokiBiz Bringing the swastika back to its original (positive) meaning has been a punk thing since 1972, when the Electric Eeels did it first. Then it was the Ramones, the New York Dolls, the Pistols, Siouxsie and the Banshees. It's hardly news. Half provocation, half reappropriation, nothing wrong with that at all. Wattie always stood against authoritarianism of any kind and he was well known for brawling with boneheads back in the day. I hope you get to meet him someday, he's a good person. Solar wheels are beautiful, dictatorships/hate groups that misappropriate symbology are not, of course.
@TheLokiBiz4 ай бұрын
@@Easun36 Yeah, Siouxsie has appologized a ton, as had Rozz Williams - because they realized how stupid it was. They weren't wearing sun wheels, they were wearing specifically nazi swastikas - they were pointing a specific direction and angled. Most of the UK punk bands were shit anyway. More into Suicide or Richard Hell than the Sex Pistols, myself. As for Watttie - the fucking loser literally has National Front ties. There are also photos of him chilling with avowed nazis - sometimes photos where they're literally sieg heiling. Dude, there are a million better punk bands out there, why ignore so much blatant racism? The Dicks were also way cooler than The Exploited - The entire early Texas Hardcore scene puts them to shame, really.

Got to hang out with these guys for hours after the show just right outside on the side walk. I was only like 15 so Smeeks was buying us beer from 1000 liquors right around the corner. And Wattie im pretty sure was doing cacaine in the door way of a building across the street. The man could talk for 10 minutes and you might could get 2 words. Had a lot of fun and these guys, the whole band were super cool and I guess you could say, gracious to their fans. I can still remember the street the club was on De Grey Street. It was only a small place but boy the energy was mental. No glass was issued for drinks that night, no bottles just plastic pint glasses. I stood up on top of a side cushion ya know the type that leads around the perimeter of establishments? Anyway I remember standing up and looking over the heads of the crowd while it was in full tilt and I shit you not all you could see was plastic pint glasses being thrown upwards from the crowd. It was pretty crazy seeing that, it was like there was 30 jugglers hiding amongst the melee of revellers juggling plastic pint glasses. Proper mad to see and pretty evident why glass was off the menu lol.
