2024 ~ Those People Will Get You Through

This year, I had a completely different song in mind, but then things happened, and this was the song that was perpetually in my head.
I’ve never been more grateful to see the back of a year in my life. This was the year that we said goodbye to seven members of our family, and that’s not the kind of heartbreak that you get over. It’s the kind of heartbreak that leaves you with a chronic illness and makes you question everything.
It also shows you who your true friends are. These end of year videos are always a celebration of the horses, and that still stands, but this year, we wanted to celebrate our people too. Because they really are what get us through. When we were starting out, we hated asking for help because we thought it made us unprofessional, when really, everyone needs help sometimes. It didn’t make us unprofessional, it made us human.
Now it feels like we ask for help too often, but one thing I will never stop being grateful for is the people who answer our calls and are always there to lend a hand. Those people are what this soundtrack is about, and it’s one of my favourite soundtracks I’ve ever made. I also tried to honour the members of the Hesteyri family who we will always miss, as much as I wish we could forget the trauma, I never want to forget them and the light they brought to the world. We will never be able to fill their exit wounds, but we will always try to do our best with the lives that we have.
Thank you for being there for us through the worst of times.
