April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse - our biggest obstacle will be cloud cover. We could luck out and have a day like we did in 2017- in that case, most people in the path will see it. Or, we could have a day like 2018, where many in the path will be clouded out.
In this video we take a look at total cloud cover on April 8 for the last 45 years - 1979 - 2023, based GOES Satellite Imagery as posted by Tim Schmit -
cimss.ssec.wis...
Notice how much the forecast changes from year-to-year on April 8. Some days were totally clear, some mostly clouded out, some in between. If you're planning to be mobile on eclipse day, think about your contingency plans in the event of a 'less-than-favorable' forecast (south Texas or Ohio??).
'April showers bring May flowers' (and Solar Eclipse sadness). Hence, why this eclipse is called 'The Heartbreaker.'

Meteorologist here too. He missed the part where clouds will starve out near totally if it’s not 100% cloud cover to begin with. This happened in 2017 in many places. The worse case scenario will be if a thick synoptic cutoff low or large frontal system came through right at totally, then it will not be good.

It's staggering, when you think about it, how the angular diameter of the moon and the angular diameter of the sun in our sky are so nearly the same. I think it signifies that a very powerful, very ancient intelligence wanted to make itself evident to life here when we developed sufficiently to notice this fact. God and/or a finite intelligence that would be godlike from our point if view. It makes me wonder if there is proof of such an intelligence awaiting us on the moon. Like in Kubrick's 2001.
@MrBloonChip
@MrBloonChip 4 ай бұрын
@@anonymoushuman8344I mean, if you think about it. The Sun, the moons, the planets, they are all almost perfect spheres. They all go around the Sun, in the same pattern, never changes, and it's been going on for many centuries. And now, we been seeing things occurring ever since after 2020, from COVID-19, to the increase of conflicts, increase of natural disaster, and many other terrible things. And we're starting to see it move from on this world, to in space itself. From the solar eclipses from 2017, to the 2024 one, once the April 8th one is complete, looking at the paths of each one, they would have made a line marking an X on the United States. And not only that, but there is a comet flying past in the future, and the name of it, is called The Devil's Comet. So obviously all of this is not happening coincidentally, they have a purpose. Because it even says in the Bible, that God uses space as a calendar to mark different times. These times we are in, as of right now, are about to become the end times. So eventually one day, very soon, we will all witness the power of God, and we'll all see him. It's incredible that we are all here, to experience the last days of the physical life. We been working for thousands of years, and finally, we are getting the signs from God, that he will return in human form, again just like when he did 2,000 years ago. But this time, he will take his followers up with him into paradise. All of us today, play a very special role in all of time. We will experience the biggest event in all the history of creation. Everyone will see the truth, sadly for many, it'll be too late for them, and they'll be lost forever. But for some, for the lucky few, they'll get their ticket into paradise. That ticket, being Jesus Christ, our God. Because it's only through Jesus Christ, that anyone ends up in Heaven. No one can biy their way into Heaven, only Christ could, because he paid for us to go their, he paid with his own blood. And the people who refuse eternal life, will be allowed to be separated from eternal life. In a place known as Hell, no one should end up there. But sadly, a lot of people are willing to go their, just to live in sin in this short life. Always remember, there is no life in Hell. Without God, there is no life, no love, no happiness, and worst of all... no meaning. That's why this event is gonna be life changing. It's gonna be so powerful, that even some US states, are gonna go under lockdown just because of it. Stay safe. 🙏🏻

With all the trending hype and eclipse guides, CLOUD COVER is the single most crucial variable hopeful viewers need to understand and have prepared flexibility for. TIP: The second most important thing to be careful of is bumper-to-bumper traffic on EVERY highway and frontage road between major cities and the Path of Totality. Somehow, we need to be ready to relocate last minute and yet avoid the the traffic. I highly recommend making your plan the night before (April 7th) and travelling as far as possible pre-dawn and before the hoards of other drivers start the same journey... growing more tense as the clock ticks. ;) Casper, WY 2017... avoided traffic by departing away from big cities and camping in Yellowstone and northern Idaho for several days. Meanwhile, my housemate tried to return to Denver and wasted an entire day sitting in traffic.

All the hotels we looked at were booked, except for the one we booked at. They had two rooms left. We plan on waking early and driving southwest just in case we have clouds. Thanks for sharing this info. It's very useful for anyone who's looking to see this awesome event.

Howdy from the town of West, TX (on I-35 just north of Waco). We are pretty much right on the center line of totality, and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of several friends to join us from across the country! Your report reflects the exact anxiety I've been contemplating over the weather probabilities for this event. We could have anything from a gloriously clear day to an areal tornado outbreak on the day-of! After all, it's spring in central Texas we're talking about. Need I say more? Making the audible call the night before will be wild if we have to mosey somewhere else. Will be doing so along with 100 thousand or more of our closest friends on the highway also making the last-minute adjustment! Here's hoping for a clear day from Mexico to Canada on Apr 8. No matter what the event is going to be spectacular! Thanks again for your detailed report!

This is accurate to an extent. However, the eclipse kills the clouds when it gets closer to totality. In 2017 partly cloudy skies became completely clear in Tennessee where I was. The greatest risk of cloud cover is if we get a synoptic rain system over that area. If it’s 50% cloud cover at a given location, much of it will clear. Not if it’s a full deck with a low ceiling.

It's very striking how the angular diameter of the moon and the angular diameter of the sun in our sky are so nearly the same. I understand there is some variation in these. Still, what are the odds? I doubt it's just cosmic dumb luck. It's like the moon itself signifies that some very powerful, very ancient intelligence is or was present and wanted to make itself known one day to life on earth by this stark fact. Try thinking about this while watching Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The clouds will clear some when totality clears. It happened in 2017. It won’t clear enough if it’s a thick cloud deck or if a front approaches right at the same time. Otherwise partly cloudy skies will clear at many places during totality. He didn’t mention this in the video.

One of my cousins lives within 10 miles of the center line between Russellville and Morrilton. I've been going to Arkansas twice a year to take landscape photos for the last 4 or 5 years. The eclipse just happens to be the big even that week. It's also a new moon and there's dark skies in the Ozarks so I'll be taking milky way photos. And if it rains that just means the waterfalls will be flowing. So I'm not going out there just for the eclipse but I hope it's clear skies that day.

There one thing working in our favor: the moons shadow moving across the earth has a slight draft and tends to clear out light/scattered clouds. I traveled all the way to Yellowstone and where we were was cloudy all morning but as soon as the shadow started approaching the clouds dissipated quickly. And indeed seeing totality was trulyLIFE CHANGING. For 6 years now I’ve been eagerly awaiting April 8th. But In East Texas where I live April is very rainy. Any tips for same day weather chasing?

That's where my family and I were originally going to drive to. It looks like it's projected to be cloudy everywhere on the path of totality. This is incorrect. That amount of time would make that final date February 24, 2024. The actual time between eclipses is 6 years, 7 months and 18 days. I don’t know who started this rumor but I wish they hadn’t. The eclipse is amazing enough on its own without this kind of unnecessary hype.

@@sunshine2528 on date calculator on Google when you type in the date August 21,2017 then April 9,2024 it is 6 years 6 months 6 weeks 6 days. Which means when April 8, 2024 when the clock hits 12 am.

@@sunshine2528 I would not make it up sweetheart, I wish it did not say that. If I could put the screenshot I have I would. Just go the website above and put the dates in and the the times being the 666.6 and you will get April 9 which means as soon as the 8 th and the TSE ends.I checked it more than once due to if you ask the days between it says 2,422 or something and that number does not give you the 666.6. but when you ask what date is 6 y 6m 6w 6d from 8/21/17 you get the end of 4/8/24.

The most unnerving thing about this path of totality is that it follows the general pattern of the jet stream and frontal systems. Fronts tend to generally lay in a southwest to northeast oruentation. So it could be very hard to chase on this one.

I'd be more interested to see the cloud cover DURING the previous eclipses along those eclipse paths. The cooling of the landscape as the sun gets covered is said to retard the water vapor rising off the land, to reduce cloud cover locally just before totality.🤞😫🤞
