What size do you recommend for watching the eclipse? I have a tripod available so that is not q concern…

I’m personally a fan of the 10x42’s. They provide a bit more of that “3D effect” compared to the roof binos and are sufficiently zoomed in. Thermal activity (seeing) in the atmosphere isn’t as distracting at lower magnification. All options still provide you with a full solar disk.

@@CosmosSafari Yes, that is what I would like to know as well. I used the 10x42s in the 2017 eclipse and they worked excellently, so I am trying to decide if I want to pick up the 12x50s or the 20x50s. Celestron also has the EclipSmart telescope as well with 18x magnification. I wish they had another option like 16x50s, as I feel like I would probably consider those over 20x50s, I just don't know that the 12x50s would really have as much of a noticeable difference over the 10x42s I already have.

I have an answer. Yes, you can see the full disk with room to spare. I would make sure to use a tripod as it is pretty hard to be stable at 20x. Enjoy!

@@CosmosSafari I now have the 10x42, 12x50, and 20x50. All 3 of them work great but I definitely prefer the 12x50 over the 10x42 as they are just slightly better and the 20x50 work excellently on a tripod with great detail of sunspots.
