I was there for a century and I was heavily regretting it after a few miles of passing the 1st station, winds were crazy for the event. Not even getting in drafts of some groups helped. But overall people there had a good vibe and was just fun to see a lot of bikes. This was my first cycling event and hoping to do more

Great to hear your experience. You’re right, the wind was difficult! Vibes were totally fun. I’ve never seen so many cyclists. There was always a group to jump in and draft with. If you want a good recommendation, the Lighthouse Century in San Luis Obispo has a good turn out and the most AMAZING SAG stops. Not much fan fare at the beginning and end of the event, but the stops are a full party!

Oh, wow, nice! Great job on finishing a century! I might sign up for this next year: will be mine first time doing it! LOL!

Thanks! It was great. This is a great one to do because there is always a peloton of riders to jump in with and get their draft.

@@SoCalSegments-kx5zf With all that headwind, I can see why it is important to ride behind a group. That view of the San Jacinto mountain was great. I hiked up there, 5 years ago.

Beautiful place to bike! Blowing snow up here, a few months till the good bike comes off the trainer and I get back outside.

No thanks to the snow, but a nice ride up the mountain in late spring sounds amazing! 🤩

Nice video! Congratulations on finishing the event! I did the 2023 event and got lucky with the weather. It reached the low 70s, and my buddy and I completed the ride before the high winds picked up. The slower riders got caught out there with some tough winds to deal with. @8:18 that's classic! You family filming you as you film them coming across the finish!😎

😂 Yeah, that was funny I filmed them filming me. Haha! I know what you mean with the wind. It sure seemed like the later it got, the more difficult the wind was. Luckily there were plenty of groups to get a good slipstream from. Thanks for sharing!

You left out the part where you dropped a water bottle, went back for it, then made up all that distance and beat me to the 50 mile mark. Also, I agree you made filming on your phone while riding at a fast pace look easy.

Hahaha. You were a tough catch! Then I found the right wheel to take me to the 50. I still give you the most aggressive rider award.
