First time listening to B1G Ten Ted. Seems like a knowledgeable guy. He certainly gets our problem last year with "hero ball", and how Miller Moss playing straight up "Riley ball" threw for 370+ yards and 6 TDs in the Holiday Bowl against a top defense in Louisville. Ted also gets the enormity of how much the Defensive staff has been overhauled with elite coaches and noteworthy transfer portal players. Riley is subtly doing the same thing with STs. The one thing that pundits are totally missing is that the Trojans have arrived at fall camp BIGGER than many B1G 10 teams!

Appreciate you watching. Their defense and strength/conditioning have taken on a whole new attitude with their "B1G Gains" program. I like USC secondary, curious to see how the Front 7 comes together, they need to step up B1G for USC to make that big jump. I really like USC this season, wouldn't be surprised to see Trojans be one of the best offenses in the Big Ten this season.

The two “Os” should be 1 and 2. However, the wild cards should be USC and another. Riley’s offense will be formidable, and Lynn’s defense will be surprisingly good! As with most teams, injuries and depth could be a factor. I’m excited to see how it all plays out!✌️

Everyone asks about SC being able to handle BIG10 defense, but what about the BIG10 handing PAC 12, offense. Iowa got killed 35-0 by Tennessee last season. USC and Oregon both have top 10 offenses, will the BIG10 be able to handle their offenses

Did Iowa have the big bad d linemen when Tennessee blew them out 35-0. Or what about when Ole Miss held Ohio St to 7 points. Or when Louisville, who had a top 20 defense and all of their starters playing, lost to USC who had a back up QB who ended up breaking a bowl record. Or when a decent Oregon team went into Ohio St a couple years ago and beat them, Did Ohio st lose the "weak Pac 12" at home. Or when UCLA beat Texas ATM and LSU. Or when Mississippi st barely won at home vs Arizona.

The problem that these west coast teams are going to have is just how good the defenses are in this conference. At the end of the day there is one stat that rules above all others, scoring defense. The Big had 7 of its teams ranked in the top 20 in scoring defense and 5 of those teams were ranked 1-5 in scoring defense. Improvement on defense is a realistic and reasonable goal. A realistic goal is top 50 in scoring defense wich would be a very significant improvement. The real problem USC has is the absolutely BRUTAL schedule you have.... @ Michigan (which is a very winnable game) which is the start of a nasty stretch run from Ann Arbor back home to host Wisconin (who has an elite defense and will be a problem) then @ minnisota, followed by hosting PSU. Its tough for me to buy that you are going to win all 4 of those games. The problem is you will absolutely need exceptional defensive play to beat Wisconsin, Penn State and Notre Dame and you don't have it yet.

I think from an expectation standpoint - this is the absolute ideal situation for Lincoln Riley. Every season he’s been a head coach before this season, it’s been make the CFP or bust. Now, he doesn’t have that expectation this season and I think that’s going to be great for him. I think USC will surprise a lot of people this year

LANKY means not simply "long-limbed," but "AWKWARDLY long-limbed." It is a word that is widely misused in sportswriting/commentary, as everyone simply Repeats what they hear without looking up the word(s). We play in Utah, the northwest and high in the mountains of Colorado. How will those BIG teams from the Midwest handle 110° heat +humidity and the Santa Ana winds when they come to LA?
@mark83372 ай бұрын
@@peacecole1968 It’s an overblown empty, almost, argument. Regular season is over by the start of December - in the Midwest, that can be luke warm, nippy, or cold with flurries, but next to never tons of snow or subzero. That doesn’t usually happen until, or after, Christmas. USC plays Notre Dame in South Bend not far from the Lake every other year forever. UCLA and USC are use to playing in the northwest and Utah. Weather is only a minor consideration, although it’s possible every once in awhile a wildcard that affects both teams.

The way they talk it is as if the Big 10 conference is all that tough, but how do they explain 1) Ohio State only scoring 3 points against Missouri, 2) Penn State getting spanked by Ole Miss, 3) Wisconsin getting beat by bad defense LSU, and Iowa getting dismantled by a score of 0-35 by lowly Tennessee - really impressive!

Bowl games mean nothing. Many of OSU's and PSU's best players didn't play because they were NFL-bound. They were not going to take a chance of getting injured. THAT is the explanation.

@tianzi49 Haha!!! Yeah because independents had one team in, lol. You can do mental gymnastics all you want. It's jus a fact. if your Evaluating a conference from top to bottom. The post season is what it is. Other than biases and an eye test. But that doesn't hold up in the courts, lol or actual debate that built on tangible numbers. You only highlighted the two bad losses the big ten had while not pointing out the wins they had. While also ironically ignoring the national title. Looking at what team won the national title. The conference thry represent, and the overall bowl record. I'm sorry those are the only metrics that matter when Evaluating a conference at the end of the season. If other metrics matter in measuring a conference at the end of the year. Let me know mate.

@@jdchatelain222 The National title was impressive, no doubt! ... but as I mentioned, all the other Big 10 teams with above .500 records all crashed except NW .. that tells me two teams out of six in the post-season, SO two teams out of six teams is hardly impressive ... btw we do not count JV team wins, AP post-season Top 25 had 4 teams from Big 10, namely Mich, OSU.
