New mild hybrid drive (eTSI)
The mild hybrid drive (eTSI) offered in the Passat for the first time delivers 110 kW (150 PS). This also has a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine (1.5 TSI evo2), which additionally comes with Active Cylinder Management (ACTplus). As a mild hybrid drive, the petrol engine is connected to a 48 V lithium-ion battery and 48 V belt starter generator. The 1.5 eTSI offers particularly good moving-off performance and high efficiency as the engine is repeatedly completely deactivated thanks to the electrical components.

The Passat Variant will be available with seven different drive types: a mild hybrid petrol engine (eTSI) version that is new for the Passat, two new plug-in hybrid drives (eHybrid), three turbodiesel engine versions (TDI) and two turbocharged petrol engine versions (TSI). All drives are combined with a direct shift gearbox (DSG) as standard. The eTSI (1.5 TSI evo2) delivers an output of 110 kW (150 PS). The two new eHybrid models provide system outputs of 150 kW (204 PS) and 200 kW (272 PS). The two TSI versions of the EA888 evo4 engine series deliver maximum outputs of 150 kW (204 PS) and 195 kW (265 PS) to the DSG. In the case of the three TDIs of the EA288 evo engine series, these are 90 kW (122 PS), 110 kW (150 PS) and 142 kW (193 PS). The TSI engine with 195 kW and the 142 kW TDI will always come with the 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive system.

Wieso ein Auto mit jetzt mit Überbreite, in Baustellen muss ich jetzt rechts fahren? Wird der Verkehr zweispurig durch oder an einer Baustelle vorbeigeführt, steht bei der Baustelleneinfahrt am linken Fahrstreifen fast immer das Verkehrszeichen 264. Darauf steht eine Meterangabe, die auf die für eine Nutzung maximal zulässige Fahrzeugbreite hinweist. Meistens sind das maximal zwei Meter. Hinter den LKW und Wohnwagen herzuckeln - mit mir - NEIN! Zu HighGloss: Diese Teile sind total out. Das Management ist so was von hinterher - wenn man ein Protototypenteil aufhübschen möchte, dann mit HighGloss. Der Schlüssel geht gar nicht! Das ist auch viel zu teuer in der Herstellung (lackieren) und sieht doch so billig aus. Von den Pflegeeigenschaften ganz zu schweigen. Das Front End geht daher auch nicht. Was soll der riesige Monitor neben mir? Vergiss es - dass haben Andere längst rausgeschmissen oder integriert. Ach… ich weiß es, der Manager will bei 220 Km/h TV schauen, lässt sich vorher alles auscodieren, so gibt es keine Abschaltung des TV. Steckdose 230 Volt - klar im Caravan, nicht hier. Billiger geht immer darum wird das Auto auf einer Linie, auf einer Plattform in Bratislava gebaut. Das Kombiinstrument? Es soll sich wohl verstecken? Was kostet das im Austausch/Reparatur? Das gab es schon mal bei einem Passat - wir erinnern uns an das Jahr 1985. Damals wurde das Kombiinstrument, genannt "Digifiz" von einer VW Vertragswerkstatt für 2200 DM durch ein "generalüberholtes Gerät" ausgetauscht, Bosch hat das für 600 DM gemacht. Das war auch schon teuer genug! Die Sitze gehen gar nicht, immer dasselbe Regalinventar seit 20 Jahren. Keine Bereitschaft in was Besseres zu investieren und mal in was Neues mit echtem Komfort zu entwickeln? Aus praktisch mach unpraktisch! Ich bin Passat Fan - doch das hier geht gar nicht. Lieblos gemacht, kein Designer gehört oder keinen gehabt? "Zusammengestückelt. Grauenhaft." Das Auto gehört massiv überarbeitet, sonst Game Over!
