I traded in my ‘22 SI for this. Here are some key comparisons: Civic SI pros: Bose Audio - Hands down the best factory sound system I’ve experienced in a car. Gearbox - Short throws and auto rev match system made the car so easy / fun to drive. Brake Hold - designated brake hold button perfect for sitting in traffic / drive thru. Car is held every time you come to a full stop and does not disengage until you go to take off again (same with hill start assist). VW lacks the brake hold but even when using hill start assist you have to hold your RPMs steady and wait for the brakes to release for about 1.5 seconds which can be annoying when in heavy traffic areas and you’re trying to peel out quickly. Interior - the climate control knobs / radio knobs feel nicer and have satisfying clicks. The rear seats have more room than the VW but Honda has far less trunk space. Jetta GLI Pros: Engine - While the Honda feels fast, the VW actually is. The bump in 30 HP and 60 ft lb of torque is very noticeable and i no longer feel like i have to work hard to pass family SUVs / sedans on the interstate. Digital Dash & infotainment - Customization options are endless with the VW. Performance displays, gesture controls & more to name a few. Steering Wheel - flat bottom and feels absolutely awesome in your hands. A lot of folks complain about the haptic feedback on the VW wheel but it doesn’t bother me. Heated Seats - not an option on US Civic SI At the end of the day, both cars are super fun. I do not regret making the swap to the VW but really enjoyed my time with the Honda ( 1 year 8 months and 40k miles). If you do elect to go with the VW make sure you opt for a manual 🙂

I have this new 2024 GLI w 6 speed manual in Pure Grey and the stock Hankook tires are terrible. The Yokohama Advan Sport I bought are much better. Getting air intake and turbo discharge pipe w/turbo muffler delete this week. I had a 2020 GLI manual and it is one of the best made. I mean, the only differece between this 2024 and my 2020 is the interior fabric, 40th badging,Adaptive cruise control,Comfort mode option in drive mode with DCC for smoother ride and black wheels. Silver lining, there only 1,984 made😁

Love it. I would take it over an Si with the 2.0 instead of the 1.5 the Si offers. Thanks for the update on the GLI.

Looking for a vw at this time. Dealerships are putting about 3k on profit for a leasing on their cars . The whole 0 down 0 first month payment is a higher monthly payment and it’s not that great of a option but we will look high and low for the right deal 😊

I would 100000% get this if they'd sort out their colour schemes. I get the red is traditional but it's just not that compatible with any body colour other than black and white. VW colours in general need a refresh...it's basically been the same palette for over a decade!

The current gen Jetta is ok but personally I would take the prior gen over it any day of the week … b’c it looks cheaper than the last gen; same with the last Passat and the earlier 06-11 gen.

I got used to the current gen GTI's styling and bought one and actually really like it, but the front end of the GLI looks hideous to me. If I owned one, I would Badgeskins the hell out of the red accents. The rest of the car is great if you like sedans, especially for the price.

I have the 2020 R-Line Jetta, 1.4l turbo w/ manual transmission. I'm sad manual sedans are being phased out. Would you trade up for this model? I even have the same snow brush. Lol!

9:13 - Our Tiguan has the same thing; driver sunvisor adjusts forward and back but the passenger side sunvisor does not. Right now, it's not too much of an issue, but during the summer it absolutely sucks.
@krane1511 ай бұрын
Its a trend they do in Europe. You even find a power driver seat and a manual passenger seat. North Americans find that weird.
@SlyLikesSpace11 ай бұрын
@@krane15 That might explain as to why the Atlas doesn't have this problem. Due to it being a NA only vehicle.

My wife has a '22 GLI, it's a great car for the money. 2 comments - the gearing is WAY too tall, much taller than the GTI. Why? Gas mileage I presume, where it does absolutely shine. And - the visor test! Every time I ride as a passenger and need to extend that thing, I throw a rant just like you guys, because of the unbelievable cost-cutting move of not allowing ONE visor to extend. I've been thinking about writing the CEO directly to complain loudly about this, it's beyond annoying and absolutely unacceptable. Oh and the infotainment, while newer than unit in my '19 Golf R, is laggy and buggy, and the Beats sound is inferior to the old Fender setup. Other than those nits - fantastic car.

I Paid $31k for the GLI Edition 30 back 2014. So still a good price.

This is a car we all agree is both a great car and a last of its kind. I don’t think it will get a replacement, maybe just a few more updates here and there. Get it while you can. It’s old school, but peak old school. The engine is proven and one of the best. The button ergonomics are peak VW ergonomics. Everything is tried and tested. The next era of cars are more like a beta test.

l had a first gen GLI 90hp seemed to be enough back then 34k is a good deal these days I would buy the 40th anniversary for nostalgic reasons . The Mazda 3 GT is a little more but has a little less power but I would drive both to be sure

I used to have a 2001 VW 1.8T which was very popular and the car to have at that time. Has Volkswagen made any progress in far as the dashboard engine light errors, such as maf sensor going out, misfiring, coilpack going bad. I remember it was a known issue.

Idk if Canada is different, but here in the states the 40th gets the adaptive suspension.
@justinwieduwilt54207 ай бұрын
The US version of the 40th edition gets the adaptive dampers but I think loses the sunroof. But for about $30k USD with adaptive dampers it looks to be a real performance bargain vs the autobahn trim
@UnstoppableMileage11 ай бұрын
I hate that all the review sites dont even mention this cars GLI trim with all the other sporty small cars you can buy. They also fail to have a Clubman JCW in their comparisons as well.

People don't buy cars anymore because we are sick of hitting our heads on the door frames! We like to sit higher too so we can easily see what's ahead of us. I do like the Jetta however. I think it's actually a great car for the money. Just...watch your big head getting in !
