Bookem Danno seems to be at his sweet spot (7 furlongs). He was just nailed at 1 mile by a nose by Forever Young who was all out in the Saudi Derby. We know how talented FY is, and how he should have won the K Derby if he was not carrying a lugging Sierra Leone down the stretch... The SD race rated as a 101 or 102 when converted to US speed figs. Will be a nice play at a price. Will be sitting just off the speed...however, this is a very deep, talented field. Ran a very sharp last out breeze at 58-1/5 for 5 panels at Monmouth Pk, which you want to see coming off the bench for 90 plus days...Trainer Derek Ryan trained Musket Man back in the day in the T/C trail in 2009. I think Frost Free goes to the lead with Valentine Candy, Vlahos, and Imagination sitting just off and Bookem Danno just off of him. Prince and Monachos will be right behind those...The best horse will take over at the quarter pole IMO. If Bookem Danno runs back to that Saudi Derby form he should enjoy the relief of 7 furlongs and will be tough with that turn of foot he has coming off the turn IN EVERY RACE. He puts 2-3 lengths between himself and the field when asked. Those Japanese horses and FY were grade 2 and grade 1 horses in that SD. The question is...how does he race first time back? Some horses romp, others look lost.
