I have a chance to buy a 2024 yz250x.. I haven’t rode a dirt bike in years do you think this bike will be to much for basically a beginner? Also I’ll just be trail riding and woods
@notsoupmoto7 ай бұрын
@@trentrideout4713 good question! Firstly the 250x is set up primarily for trail riding and woods so you'd be on the perfect bike as far as that goes. As for being a beginner (or not having ridden in years) I think that although its a 250cc two stroke, the 250x has very approachable, easy delivering power. It doesn't feel like its going to rip out of your arms like the yz250 mx bike does. That being said, it still has plenty of "get up and go" so it's a bike that you won't get tired of and probably won't ever grow out of. I think its totally doable as a beginner bike to learn on I'd just caution you to find a super big wide open area like a large field or something of that nature so you can really get comfortable with all the controls and things and not have to worry about hitting any obstacles. Be safe out there and have fun rippin! I think you'll love it. Definitely reply back and let me know what you think if you buy it!

The purpose of the 18" rear wheel is to allow for a taller side wall tire, which helps prevent pinch flats

Less pinch flats are a added bonus ..the main reason the 18 has a higher sidewall which in turn flattens out giving u alot more surface area on the ground when you juice the throttle..and when u go over a log or rock/s or roots... giving Much you alot more traction

@@notsoupmoto if only yamaha would add a gear..
@jpconard8 ай бұрын
Well the Austrian XC 300 bikes (TBI) are getting 57hp versus yz250 at probably 45hp, I've heard 50hp near best case. Plus 14/50 gearing is stock so that would make top end speed difference. Try again with 14/50, and Apex head with SX dome. May be closer.
@grudgetank31278 ай бұрын
my yzx is unusable in single track around here with a 14 front, that's why I went to 13, yamaha really needs a 6 speed with a lower first, start would be great too but there's 2 options for aftermarket start.@@jpconard

First please pardon my arrogance but here’s my current situation. I’m in my mid forties. 5’10 and around 200ish pounds. I’ve been riding a 07 CBR600RR for the past 4 years. I understand clutch and throttle control but haven’t ridden dirt bikes since I was a teenager. I’m finding myself getting bored with riding streets and having friends who trail ride, I find myself wanting a dirt bike. Is the YZ250X a good idea for me? I don’t do wheelies and haven’t even really practiced riding wheelies. Just don’t want a bike that is going to be intimidating. What are your thoughts?
@notsoupmoto6 ай бұрын
cross country bikes like the 250x and others in its class are definitely a more "beginner friendly" option when compared to their motocross counterparts due to their power delivery. so yes I don't think it would be a bad choice in your situation. if possible though, see if your friends who trail ride would allow you to test ride some of their bikes. that's the best way to know if a bike is right for you! thx for the comment!

The 250x is a great woods bike except for the fact that it doesn’t come stock with an electric start. As a beginner/novice trail rider the electric start really comes in handy on technical terrain when you stall the bike. Sounds like a a rare scenario but it happens from time to time. Just my two cents, I’m currently eyeing the 250x as my next bike (currently on a KLX 300r)

What can I change to make it like a yz cross engine?
@notsoupmotoАй бұрын
I wish I knew more about mods and engines to tell you but that’s an area I’m not super knowledgeable about. Maybe someone else can chime in? I’ve heard of people putting flywheel weights and changing gearing of the Mx version to make it more woodsy but idk what you’d do to go from the xc version back to mx

I wanted to change the mx flywheel head and control unit, I already have a complete pro circuit and vforce3 exhaust

I’m thinking this same thing. I decided 2 stroke, because it’s so much cheaper and easier to work on and fix it. 4 Strokes are expensive and much more complex in design. Not to mention these 2 strokes last a long long time! I’m even considering a YZ125X. I’m 33Y/O and 230 pounds too. Either option would be great.
