Thanks for the video. A great souvenir. I like the transition from raw to processed. Will need to looking at my photos more carefully. Cheers to you and Robin.

@@BarnabyGeorge thanks. This is why I’m primarily doing it, I want to create a record of my photography trips. I’m currently watching Tom & Simons last live recording where they talk about shooting local. For some time I’ve wanted to photo places like the Lake District more, but it’s a fair trip from Southampton, I’ve always been relatively uninspired by the New Forest from a photographic perspective, but a while ago, I thought that I’ve been unfair to the New Forest because I’ve not explored much of it, so I decided to get out and explore more of it because it is relatively on my door step….and this is what Simon & Tom (& Nick Carver) have been commenting on, embrace the local. So this is what I’m trying to do, and by keeping a video record of the trips it will help me remember where I’ve been and where else to explore.

Great to see you and the 617 crew out in the New Forest. Pity the mist didn’t turn up but you found some great looking trees and made fab pictures. 👍 (Nice Labyrinth reference in the bog! 😎)

@lightinthemeadow …..ah, you spotted the Labyrinth reference 😂, that stuck in my head since I first watched, many years ago, I use it quite often! It has been great getting out with other members of the 617, hope to continue and to many more.

@ 😆 Same here. My wife and I say exactly the same, every time we come across some boggy ground!

@lightinthemeadow 🤣. In the video I uploaded last night, there were some very boggy areas, at times, I was having to be careful about water getting into my wellies, it was that bad. I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that one of my most valuable photographic accessories are my wellies! They are just permitting me exploring areas where I would not even go in my walking boots, they do give you surprising freedom to not having to worry too much about where you are going. My wife bought me my wellies a few years ago, so I didn’t have an excuse not to go with her on dog walks in the autumn/winter when it gets really muddy, but I’ve found them so useful for photography out in the New Forest, the pair I have (Grubs, think they are the Frostline model I have) are surprisingly comfy & warm for me, which was pretty unexpected….first wellies I’ve had since I was a kid I think, and my prior experience was that they were relatively cold and uncomfortable things.

@@TheLDunn1 For years I persisted with walking boots and gaiters as being the “proper” footwear. It was having kids that changed things - there was no longer any time to faff with footwear - just needed something that was quick on and off, and fairly maintenance free. Now I am complete convert to wellies and it has to be something pretty extreme to get me in to walking boots. Wellies are especially good on beaches, in streams, bogs, etc. I have upgraded to a pair with proper vibram soles after some sketchy moments on rocks by the sea. I agree, wellies are probably the most essential items after the camera and lens. 😀

@ yes, that is the other benefit, the low maintenance of wellies! Just wish mine were a tad easier to take off when covered in mud!

A good video Lawrence and some nice captures. Your comment about the "fog that was promised" reminds me of when I made a similar comment to a colleague who pointed out that the forecast is an estimate, not a guarantee 😊 Still raises my hopes and expectations though, every time!

@@stuartvh4562 thanks Stuart, yes, we fully expected mist at least, but it didn’t happen where we were, but I heard from a friend & now fellow 617 club member that there was mist in a different location of the New Forest on that morning, but he was not out doing photography, just travelling through. I’ve been out pre dawn this morning, ironically, I did NOT want fog/mist this morning, I wanted some nice sun rise light, but guess what I got? Yeap, fog all morning! And was not at a venue where I could really make use of it!…..there must be a ‘law’ about this sort of thing 😂

Looks a nice morning out Lawrence. And the pano shot was very nice.

@@russhawker1718 it was nice to get out, meet up & go for a walk in the New Forest, but sadly there was no mist or fog, no sunrise due to the blanket of cloud, and the light was flat & bland, so I think we all struggled a little on the photography side due to the conditions. You can’t have it ‘ace’ every time though can you?

Hi Richard, I had to check what was at 11:45 - it’s the pano at the end, yes, that was my fave too. Hope you enjoyed it, and thank you for watching.

Blimey, I drive all over the UK and we have all the local to be honest I have been here but not for a long time. I’m off to the Lakes this weekend, I’ll return here in the new year! Burley is a nice area to walk, not sure if you have tried that?
@TheLDunn1
@TheLDunn1 4 күн бұрын
@@paulwbakerphotography ah nice, love the Lakes, I hoped to go this year, but it didn’t happen. It’s quite a trek for us. I wild camped a couple of years ago, but my back pack weight was too much, with the camera gear on top of the camping gear….i need to rethink it for next time! Hope you get some great conditions up there. One of the guest presenters in 617 has been Nick Carver, and his presentation was about shooting local. It resonated with me. I have the New Forest on my door step, and up until this year, not really explored it photographically. There are lots of opportunities there. During this winter I’m anticipating shooting more coastal stuff too though. Im currently editing a video for another location in the New Forest that I shot at recently which was a very good location too. When the leaves started to turn, I prioritised getting out shooting, so it’s given me something of a stills & video backlog. Now the weathers not so great, I’ve been playing catch up a bit on the editing side, but I want to get out shooting again soon.
