2025 BMW 5 Series Review 1

I’ve had four 5 series, starting with 1985 and continuing until our 2013 535 with x drive and have loved them all. I’ll make the 2025 540i my new addition. Love the look and the handling.

I haven’t seen one in person yet but apparently it looks better than on camera. I also note the grill is appropriately sized and the side profile looks better than in other models with their new design themes (I’m thinking iX, X1). It *almost* reminds me of an E39 but on steroids and that’s not a bad thing. I’d even go as far to say it’s the best looking new BMW.

You’re not in the minority as far as I’m concerned, it’s a good looking car. A lot of car reviewers nit-pick. I always liked the boxy look of the 5 series.

You’re not in The minority, i think it’s great looking, full of fun features, easy to drive and super comfortable. My only complaint is how quickly they depreciate , so i buy one year old ones that are certified and they are usually 20-30 percent cheaper than a new one.

0 to 1 makes sense. 0 means the tank is empty, 0.5 half full and 1 completely full.

I can’t help but notice the sloping rear is very similar to Mercedes’ E class sedan. Do they always have to copy each other? Looking at both of them side by side, a lot of similarities there

People criticize the design but all the luxury cars from the other brands also look generic and have weird design choices 🤷‍♂️. In my opinion this is the best choice for a economical and fast car. It does 0-60 in 4.3 secs. i have a m2 and i really dont think its power is needed for daily driving

Genesis has nailed the luxury Sedan. I only wish it was more fuel efficient. In Australia we can get the BMW 540D with the upturned B57 engine. I will take a look.

The interior needs to have physical buttons and different material choices, period. The capacitive touch and gloss back everywhere looks cheap on a vehicle costing this much.

@ottobong No need for me to fix it. I said "most" BMW cars aren't beautifully designed, in my opinion. And yes, the E39 5 Series (M5 in particular), Z8 and the M6 that Parker and Eddie reviewed back a few years when they shared the Vehicle Virgin Channel, are just about the only BMW designs I liked.

Styling is so subject I don't see so much attention is put on the exterior and interior design although interior design is more important. Look at Lexus, I think their products are gaudy looking but people (mostly old) flock to them.

Cars looks so awful these days. All of them. Not only BMW. Even as recently as five years ago, cars still looked like cars. Today, they look more like toys, or machines of some kind.

The Golden Age for BMW and Mercedes was between 1986 and 2001. In 1988 the first M5 was $50,500 the 528i under $30k; This 530i is almost $20,000 MORE than the original M5, and it has 20 less horsepower.Plus it is ugly, the New M5-hideeous.

It’s more unfortunate looking in person. BMW has lost its way over the past decade. I’m keeping my 2011 1 series…the last naturally aspirated inline 6 they offered with hydraulic steering. Old school!
