2025 Chevrolet Trax Activ: The BEST Small Crossover?

I have had this car for about a month with the Artemis Color trim across the dash and love the car. The motor power is no issue. the ride is good and cabin noise good for a sub 30k car. I did notice there was zero sound insulation in the spare tire compartment, so I found a harbor freight moving blanket in my garage, pulled the spare and roadside tool kit and lined the space with the blanket…..now the cabin is really quite. Also note my tires were overinflated to 47 psi from the dealer, should have been 35 front tire and 32 rear. I really like the car. It’s a hit!! Sporty! Would be perfect for college kid car. Plenty of room!

I just bought this car. I have absolutely no complaints. The engine may be small, but it’s quite powerful. The car def holds its speed. I doesn’t feel any different than driving a 4 cylinder. The options are great. I’m very pleased.

I bought a black Activ last week, and what a great vehicle. I traded in my 2016 Camaro SS 6-speed I bought new in 2016, which I owed 16 grand on because of a refinance due to COVID and getting cheap money to pay off other bills. The dealer gave me 15k on the trade in, so not bad. I also had a Chevrolet $3,500 voucher because of some issues my Camaro had that they offered me for any new vehicle for a year's time. I was about to have to put another 800 in tires on the Camaro, and the clutch, which is 2 grand, that was coming up. I ran the numbers, and with the gas savings, insurance, and tires, I'm at a break even point with the Trax, and even saving money, where the Camaro was about to eat my lunch possibly. The thing that drew me to the car was it kind of looks like my Camaro in styling, and even the interior. The only thing I miss is my 455 horsepower and my 6-speed, but having a new car and saving a ton of cash in the process is a win/win. I was also living in an expensive apartment for a garage, and in a couple of months I'll be moving into an even nicer place without a garage because I don't care if this car sits outside. They steal it, no problem. The Camaros have been getting hit lately bigtime. It drives smoother than my Camaro, which had magnetic ride, and handles decently with minimum body roll in turns. Plenty of power, but going from zero to 60 in 4 seconds to around nine took a bit of getting used to. But overall happy with the purchase. Great looking vehicle, great safety features I didn't have on the Camaro, and instead of putting that 16k into the old car I got a brand new car for cheap. Only concern I have is the engine, with the timing belt configuration, and its reliability, but my credit union has really good bumper to bumper extended warranties for cheap. I'm set. I'll get another sports car in the future, but for now this car nails it, at least on looks, features, and still being a fun car to drive, minus the horsepower of course.

It's pretty sad that only a few of years ago, the Chevrolet Equinox was in this price range, and you got so much more for your buck. Nice job on the review.

Great review as always Mike. This is a great car for someone going off to college as a first car. It is also a great option if you want basic transportation. My wife was looking at this but ended up buying out the lease on her 2022 Tucson SE as Hyundai made her a great deal. My boss has the base LT trim and is really happy with it!

It looks like a HUD … and it sort of is, but it’s just a collision warning red flashing light

Excellent styling in and out. Cacti is great color..afraid some of their blues would soon make you regret your choice. Car is GM response to the oversized, way overpriced and gas guzzling pickups that few can actually afford..or need. Good advice on holding sticker cost down to retain value aspects. Visual safety option package is a must. This car is pushing the very bottom of the basic Tucson/Sportage/Santa Cruz trio..they are more desireable and likely more reliable. Maybe a good lease proposition for Trax. Some really obvious price cutting on interior trim..no dead pedal cover? No armrest padding? Well this IS a value proposition choice. Would I pop for one in Cacti? Maybe! Reviewer gets to the basic facts surrounding vehicle merits vs. value realities. This is rare! 👍👍
