I am from Pakistan. I have an F4 visa case with a Priority Date of July 2003, and a Documentarily Qualified (DQ) date of December 2023. My case is now complete, and the Affidavit of Support has also been completed. I have now opened the case for my 2 sons. Please kindly let me know if, when the Affidavit of Support for my 2 sons is required, a new Affidavit will also be required for me in 2024. I wish there was a video where the scenario is different than usual. Since we got married, my wife who's a US Citizen has been living with me here in Pakistan. In this situation what kind of questions are asked and what should I as her spouse prepare for the interview.

For detailed, case specific details, we offer 1:1 visa interview prep session. I can tell you though, it’s better for you (petitioner) to be in the U.S. at the time of interview. The petitioner should have US domicile, which is hard to prove if petitioner has been outside the U.S. for extended time. My advice is to have address in the U.S. and be in USA at time of interview.

Jazak Allah for your reply. Unfortunately neither myself nor y husband was awre of this donicile thing and his interview is this coming Wednesday. We have a 15 month old son who was born here. I didn’t want to leave my husband and go to US ad now when we have our son I didn’t want to raise him alone without his father. Please advise.

Since the interview is very soon and you can’t start living in the USA before that, I would recommend that your husband clearly explains to the officer at the interview that you guys plan to move to America and start a life there. Also, make sure your financial form I-864 is updated and take a copy to the interview, since officer will want to know if you can financially sponsor your husband as his petitioner.
