The Ducati Multistrada V2 is the first bike to get the brand new engine, we'll be riding the Panigale and Streetfighter over the next few weeks.
This one is lighter, more top end power, more rider aids, just more than the last model.

Ducati have forgotten it’s the buyer that decides on value for money. You can’t just call something premium and it magically becomes worth more than the competition.

I'm glad that someone made this comparison. On the face of it it seems odd, but for real riding on real roads I think you're dead right. The Triumph is also a hell of a lot cheaper than the Ducati. I'm about to move countries so will be selling two of my bikes. One is my Tiger 1200 and the other is my first gen Multistrada, so I've got no bias in this face off. I'm thinking the Tiger 800 Sport is the way to go for me at least.

Cracking review again from Bike word, looking forward to a long term ownership review & head to head. Looking to downsize from a big 280kg adventure bike & this looks a nice bit of kit but not too far away cost wise from the premium bigger capacity bikes especially with pcp deals. Was disappointed to be told by my local dealer the 1800mile valve service will still be around £1000, they’re having a laugh when most other brands charge £500-600 for the same conventional valve service, but I guess it’s still cheaper than the v4 desmo service quote of £1400😬

Looks like another lovely new bike to add to the list of Ducati’s but will people keep paying these prices or will the CB1000 Hornet set off a manufacturer price war? You said it in the video that Ducati’s are aspirational but it has to hit a ceiling at some point. I had a break from bikes after a fall back in 2008 and I was shocked at the prices when I started riding again in 2020. I have a gen 2 XR and love the new MXR but £28k for a bike that can’t carry a pannier is nuts so manufacturers need to build more fantastic bikes that are affordable or we are going to see less and less bikes on the road.

At "just" £16k its "only" the same price as a 1300GS so I can't see why anyone would buy the BMW when you can have a much smaller, slower and higher revving bike with a much more peaky delivery - surely having to rev the nuts off it is perfect for a bit of two up touring? Speaking of which another £16k bike is the Hayabusa and I can see no reason whatsoever for buying one over this either. Lord forbid someone wanting to save £5k and going for the Triumph.

@ I had an 848 and I loved it - it also wasn’t ridiculously expensive. I’m at an age where sports tourers and ADV bikes are appealing and this is a total disappointment. The 848 was never the best at anything but it had character to die for. What’s this got? A Euro 5 compliant asthmatic clone in a Japanese copy frame with some tarty plastic and overly complicated and expensive suspension? Ducati, and the others tbh, have missed the point of motorcycles. Yeah, you CAN make $25k bikes with 6 axis IMUs and electronic suspension, but who really wants them? This is why Triumph will sell a lot of Tiger 800 Sports.
@siraff4461

@ I like Ducs as a rule but its getting more and more that they just aren't doing anything for me. The V4 is too much engine for most situations and means the bikes are heavily compromised to deal with power levels no one is going to use for more than a few seconds - especially on the nakeds. Its like they got to the 1098/1198 and pretty much ran out of ideas because since that era things have been heading in a very generic direction. Its like they are trying to become the Audi of bikes - lots of on paper performance and all the electronics but a massive price and a fairly bland experience. One of my bikes is an old 900SS. Its immaculate and well looked after. As a bike its rubbish. Its relatively slow (its the same year as the Fireblade was launched with close to 50hp less and more weight), rattly, vibrates a lot, needs cambelts and desmo services from time to time and has just enough steering lock to make you almost fall off whenever a sharp, slow turn is around. However it has so much character that as an experience it makes even the new Panigale look like utter rubbish. You can feel the throttle slides as you twist the grip, the chassis has flex but you can tell exactly what its doing and the suspension is old and basic but still does a very good job of making bends feel fun. Add to that the smell of hot metal as its mostly aircooled, the rattle of the dry clutch, the boom of an engine set up more for torque than revs and with honest exhausts pulsing away - its just better and its why most people ride bikes. Every time you ride it you get that experience and it makes you get off feeling like you've ridden a bike. On the new ones it could be pretty much any bike. Smooth, quiet, capable, soulless and about as much fun as having your teeth pulled. That being said why you would pay for a Ducati badge any more is beyond me. For a while it meant it was about as good as a bike could be but thats long gone now in favour of cost cutting and profit margins.

There are so many bikes in this category now and way cheaper and as capable. It’s not worth the money, 😮 Also we don’t need all the gizmos, just keep the bike basic and offer something more competitive on price. A lot of low mileage adventure bikes around save your money. Take the Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro, you can pick a 2022,23 5k miles one up for £12,500 now and they were 18k new. I know I own one and an amazing motorcycle. Triumph sent its customers a survey what you want from future bikes recently, you would not believe the things they were asking would you like on future bikes, too much electronic tech. Come on manufacturers, we need two wheels, abs, an engine, clutch and throttle with good brakes and suspension thats it. 😂

As an L twin i have a 14 1200 pikes peak owner. dont want a v4. But as we use ours 2 up loaded to south of france, it's nice to have a bit more cc. Think I'd take the MV Enduro Veloce instead, now that Audi have sapped the very soul out of Ducati.

there is absolutely no way to justify the price. starting at 18500 euros is just insane. you get a better and bigger bike in that price point. and if you want to stick to these horsepower figures, you can literally buy 2 bikes of the competitors. or 1 bike and have it fully equipped, money for services and tire changes for the next couple of years, rather than buying this multistrada v2. not worth the money. no i did not ride it, sure it rides great, but for 19k with license plate and insurance - ready for the road - there are SOOO many other better options out there.

One of the reasons for the price is due to component costs. Everything is brembo, Bosch, continental. Braided lines, more stringent quality control etc. If you look at a tracer they still have rubber brake lines and nissin.
@TheRealBhuado
@TheRealBhuado 5 күн бұрын
@ ok. And why is nissin considered "bad"? Why is showa considered bad? They are on championship winning machines. Not to mention ducati is under the VW group umbrella. So components and plasric molds are even cheaper than they used to be. But since you mentioned the tracer, the yamaha is overall a better bike

They always quote weigh without fuel as a bike with a 12 liter tank will be lighter than a 21 liter etc. So the 18kg is both bikes without fuel.

Finally they ditched the Desmo! I had a Ducati 848 for a couple of months and servicing was just crap. Unnecessary rudimentary complication and weight. The fact they were able to shave of so much weight from the engine proves iti

Kudos for Ducati keeping the price KIND OF manageable. I'd still rather set up a Tracer 9.

The "Ducati tax" of being able to say you have a Ducati (similar to wafting your own farts into your open mouth when you're driving an oh-so-green Tesla) is getting out of hand. The bang for buck just isn't there

I don’t agree but understand your view. Problem is today that everyone only reads, this has x amount of horsepower and should therefore be priced as Y. What people don’t tank into consideration is everything else, tech, chassis, components (for instance Yamaha almost never has braided lines), how much time and effort it takes to calibrate the ABS so you don’t have wooden brakes as the Japanese bikes. But I understand that it’s a lot of money and when you look only at power for each $/£/€ spent it will suffer in the comparisons. But everything else matters as well.

I think Ducati are completely irrelevant to me now, as they push further into the premium motorcycle sector, and that's ok. There are plenty of other options.

He seems to embody the very definition of poor riding technique. By leaning his body in the opposite direction of the bike, he not only compromises stability but also reduces traction and control. This kind of riding approach is not just inefficient-it’s outright dangerous.
