Dave: I’m not an LD rider at all, but you make me want to be one. Love your videos. I need these to sustain me during the winter months when I cannot ride. And that new windshield is just awesome.

Also, I think we need a video on the van. Do you ever camp out of the van as well?

Thanks, I do love that windshield as well...7 Jurock killed it!

Happy new year, Dave! I didn’t apply for the IBR this summer, mainly because I have no rally experience and the timing this summer doesn’t work for me. I look forward to learning from your experience on this one, and I think there are a couple of beginner rallys this year I can pick from.

Thanks Mark, If you need some help with a Rally, let me know, I am willing to help, Zoom calls or whatever it takes....Dave

I’ve never done a rally, I’m starting to prepare by reading, practicing, signed up for the Heart of Texas Rally. I do have quite a bit of long distance riding experience.

Well if I can help in any way, let me know. What do you use for planning and building a route? Google maps? basecamp? Dave
@davidbell316929 күн бұрын
I have a Garmin Zumo XT2, I used waypoints when I did the SCMA 3 flags. I have never used base camp but would be interested in learning. Only thing I use google for is distance from city to city. My wife knows how to go from address to address, but she won’t be with me.

@@davidbell3169 Basecamp seems to be the way most rally folks go, as it does allot of stuff....But that doesn't mean it's the only way. As long as you have a way to take a GPX file, IBR will email it to you, and use that file to figure out and plan a route...Dave
@davidbell316929 күн бұрын
@ I’m going to try and familiarize myself with that and also use my GPS and google more extensively in the coming months. I definitely have to brush up on my photography. I did the SCMA 21 missions and wasn’t really happy with some of the photos, but they were all accepted. I didn’t plan to bring my laptop, but it seems it may be more useful than my iPad. My laptop is small but I just may invest in an even smaller one. Also what kind of camera did you use?
@KendallAdventureandTravel29 күн бұрын
@@davidbell3169 For the HOT and the IBR you will use your phone and the LDX rally app, no camera needed.

wow a ton of great advice. I'm excited but concerned about this rally. I think it's great that a lot of experienced riders are back. I'm sad that some bowed out, and I'm concerned about the people they are bringing in might not be the best. I'm afraid preferential treatment to certain new people especially when it comes to the sponsorship rules. I'm expecting an HD Pan America with more sponsors than an ARCA team to show up and the rallymasters are going to look the other way because they "like" that person.
@KendallAdventureandTravelАй бұрын
I wouldn't be concerned about this rally at all, Im not. Paull Tong has run many rallies and this will be nothing than spectacular im sure of it. Yeah I know of a few riders that cant participate as the late notice caught them off guard, but I suspect there will be a field of highly capable riders setting off to make their mark in history. As far as sponsorship, yeah I see the rules, Im not looking for any sponsorship and most probably won't, if someone on a Pan America has it, good on that rider. For me, I am going to prepare the best I can go go for it...Thanks for watching...Dave
