As an unschooling parent whose child is now an adult, I think its strength is that it’s really good for nurturing self-motivation, independence, and excelling within areas of passion. The downside is that it doesn’t give any experience in working within some structured systems, like school or a workplace. As a result, it can be harder to cope with those systems when entering adulthood but easier to thrive as an independent worker. Good luck with your decision, Jesse.

@@musicproduction1330 thanks for sharing your thoughts on unschooling! I imagine you got a lot of weird looks when you explained your homeschooling method?

My wife homeschooled our kids. Our daughter is now in college and our son graduates next year from high school (homeschool). Definitely a different and some might say better lifestyle. Happy to chat more about it if you’re interested.

We have homeschooled our son his entire life and my wife, his principal teacher, pulled from many sources but especially classical ones. Search for the Trivium. The ability to deep dive into subject, especially, the ones he was inclined or drawn to has really helped him find the career he wants to pursue, but more importantly has helped him become a more logical thinker. As both a public not private school teacher, there is so much wasted time in a traditional school environments.
