Did you leave the machete at home lol? It should be part of your kit. 😉 Awesome goals and you should be able to crush them for sure, Mark!

I was so willing you to cut through those trees! That was some public footpath! Nice goals Mark, nice & varied 👍

I might be daft enough to tackle impassable paths but I managed to restrain myself on this occasion 😄 Think I'd need a strimmer for that one!

Some great goals for the year Mark. I am confident that you are more than capable of ticking those off 💪 Can't beat a good mid long run side quest 🤣 Top work mate! 👏😎🤘

😁👍 cheers mate! Sometimes I think it's not a proper long run without a side quest or two.

Sounds like you’ve got a busy year with plenty of PB’s to chase, good luck with them all mate 💪🏼

Cheers Soupy 👍 These new years soon roll around these days. Pretty soon my running goals will be getting to the post office for my pension before they close! 😄

Cracking video, looked a great route. I’ve had a few instances of Komoot wanting to send me down what seems not passable. Like the look of the pack and bladder!! And those are great sustainable goals!! 🙌🙌
@markg993 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. Komoot does like to test my willingness to trespass at times! I'm thinking that using the pack for the ultra will shave a few minutes off my time, where I'd normally be unscrewing flask lids and waiting for water being poured in. I'll be breezing through now 😅🏃♂️💨

Good luck with the goals Mark. Always good to know where all the local footpaths go; that one was disappointing but the next one might be a gem. If you stay injury free, you should easily beat the 2000km mark for the year. My last good mileage year was 2020 at 73 years old I managed 2100km. A young (almost) 50 year old like you should smash it mate.
@markg993 күн бұрын
Hi mate. I just can't resist an unexplored footpath. Like you say, they next one could be a gem. I'll keep looking. I got you're right about the mileage goal. I'd be happy with any kind of improvement 👍

Wide range of goals from the 5k to the 50k distance, that will make for an interesting and varied year of training! The yearly distance goal should be within reach too. Go on, join that running club!

Yes, I always seem to be trying to work on everything at once 😄 If I ever get serious about fast times, I may need to focus on something for a while! Thanks a lot, Chloe 👍 🙂

Some good goals for this year mate , I was at the ambulance station the other day and saw the sign and wondered where the hell that went 🤣🤣 thanks for clearing that one up , good luck with all your plans mate .

😂 that must be the most pointless footpath sign ever! It might as well say " brambles this way >" lol. Cheers mate 👍

Great plans for 2025,looking forward to watching along to see how they go. And I've seen some shoe tests in my time, but never testing how they perform quite literally off the beaten path 😂

I think I've finally found my niche with the shoe tests in the deepest wilds of Derbyshire 😂👍
@averagewanderers7 күн бұрын
Those are great goals that I think you can knock out of the park with no problem! Also those are some pretty muddy shoes at the end, so that means you worked hard!
@markg994 күн бұрын
Thanks, Jen! 🙂👍 If I steer clear of injury I'm hopeful I can hit those goals. Muddy shoes are everywhere in my house at the moment. Can't wait for summer 😁

Good mix of targets, everything from 5K to ultra! Should keep you well motivated.
@markg993 күн бұрын
Yes indeed. That's the plan, with all the variety. Plus I can never settle on one goal or distance for too long. There's so much to try out within the running world. 👍

Solid goals there mate. Course running half a mile up the road to cross safely had me baffled after risking life and limb at the bottom of that field to find your public footpath 😂
@markg993 күн бұрын
Cheers, Craig 👍 What can I say about the safety situation... I'm a complicated man 😂😂

Nice vid. Big goals bit no bother to you Sparky you've been doing great the past year. If you didn't take that short-cut and chose to run through the restricted area it would be a great incentive to run fast. 😂
@markg994 күн бұрын
Thanks mate 👍 Things are going pretty well for now. I think you're right about the restricted area. Might have been a good impromptu fartlek/sprint session! 😅

Great set of goals there Mark, nice mix of things to get your teeth into. What do you use to tape your feet usually? It is like KT tape or something else?
@markg993 күн бұрын
Cheers, Ben. I use zinc oxide tape. It tends to stick well for a long time and protects from friction. It might sometimes roll up a bit around the edges after a big distance in wet conditions. I haven't tried others so I'm not sure how it compares 👍
@timeonfeet2 күн бұрын
@markg99 nice one, I use Hapla Band but always interested to know what others use. Might do a video on foot care for runners soon. Hope you're having a good weekend 👍
