Great review. Back in 2019 I was shopping either a gti or a gli. Ended up going with the gti and kind of regretted it. The gli has a more comfortable interior. A couple years later my spouse got a Jetta SEL….even the 1.5L with automatic is a great choice….plenty of power with a well-sorted transmission. You really can’t go wrong with any of the Jettas IMO.

We got our 2020 Jetta SEL in the middle of the pandemic for 0% interest. The car and the price have been perfect!

​@@g.r.2985I only have 1750 miles on mine so early to tell. This is my 4th VW and have never had issues. When you keep them with over 100k miles it might be a different story.

I can't think of a good enough reason to pick the old tech gli over the current gti, just make sure you don't option it with 19" wheels.

Greer value especially in Canada but….VW!!! make it reliable and bulletproof reliable….you will knock Honda out of the park especially with their disastrous Honda Turbo engines.

Might be too late as Honda is putting their two-motor hybrid system with the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine in most of the cars. The disastrous turbo you referenced is pretty much limited to the Civic Si and base model Accords . The Honda 2.0 turbo engine has proved itself to be a good engine in cars like the Civic Type and 10th gen 2.0 Accord.
