Do you think that Oppenheimer dominating last year can hurt The Brutalist in some ways with an Epic from roughly the same time period, shot on film etc. ?

@@timmlauckner2810 I don’t really think Oppenheimer’s win directly impacts The Brutalist just because they are both 3+ hour long epics. I can see The Brutalist falling short of Oppenheimer for multiple different reasons though. The main one is that Corbet isn’t a well respected vet in the industry like Nolan. How much of Oppenheimer being so widely seen both by the public and by the Academy was because Nolan was the director? Same goes for Scorsese and KotFM for that matter. If these movies are the exact same but have different directors, do they get the same level of attention? Because Corbet has never been on the Academy’s radar and then all of a sudden is for such a long and challenging film, how many actually go out of their way to reward him like they did Nolan? I still think Corbet’s work will speak for itself and be able to overcome these obstacles at the moment, but I could see Baker taking it partially cause of this.
