My friend and I drove his mother's white 1965 Karmann Ghia convertible from NY to Acapulco in 1967, when we were 18. The car was wonderful, although I had to get out and push a few times while climbing the Sierra Del Sud Mountains. It kept dry inside, and started again, even after it was flushed off the road in a torrential flood. The car was a champ. I am thrilled to see the revival, especially electric. I might visit the dealer today.

I remember driving my Dad's 1967 Karman Ghia from Simi Valley to Ontario Speedway to a concert-- Peter Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd & Black Sabbath. A month later I saw Elton John at Dodger Stadium. 1975 was a grand old year. It was a cool car to drive in for an 18 year old whippersnapper.
