Wow! I am so impressed by your organizational ideas. I am such a messy painter and can’t even begin to imagine this top shelf organizing😂 The freezer paper idea is helpful as well. Thanks for posting this Pam.

Is the Arches paper one big sheet you cut and what size did you cut them to be? Also, what tape did you use? Sorry if I missed some of that! Thank you so much for all your information it’s so helpful! Just bought my supplies oil and cold wax so going to get my palletts and fridge (left over from kids dorms) out of the basement!glad I watched this first before diving in! Can watercolor paper be used for cold wax and oil btw?🫶

My studio is not heated but warmer than a refrigerator. I cover palette with cold wax 3:1 ratio with plastic . I have found the paint very stiff and almost unusable due to the ambient temperature. How is any medium pliable enough to use after removed from a refrigerator?
@PamelaCaughey7 ай бұрын
These mediums very quickly are as pliable as if not refrigerated - like in 10 minutes it is as if they were never refrigerated :)

Thank you for sharing. I'm new to you and have a couple of questions. Why are you storing oil paint and your cold wax formula with color and galkyd gel in a frig or freezer? Also please tell me the ratio of your formula. [cold wax, gel and oil paint]
@PamelaCaughey7 ай бұрын
After many discussions with Gamblin Paints (a company whose oil paints i love to use) - they suggested adding 1 part galkyd gel to 3 parts cwm for four reasons: 1) More flexibility 2) More strength of paint film 3) Faster drying 4) Slight satin sheen vs total matte finish. For these four reasons, I always use it and by mixing it ahead of time and storing it in the refrigerator, it stays fresh indefinitely as opposed to just covering it with saran wrap - where it would only last a few days before hardening ;) Once the 1 part Galkyd gel is mixed with 3 parts cwm, I mix this blend up to 1:1 with oils. This allows me to paint with oils and NOT owrry about "fat over lean" - which is a huge concern for traditional oil painters! Great questions!
