Knowing how and where to take a flake is one thing, but making the best from a flake that goes awry really tests your skills. Thanks for the explanations on your best options of logically going about handling a problem area. You're not just showing how to flint knap. You're also showing the use of patience and logic. p.s. - I would comment to your youtube videos more often but I usually watch them on a television, where commenting is not much of an option.

Oh yes. But for some reason, most Obsidian likes smaller-tipped tools.

How do you think the aluminum you used to use 1:11:18 would perform ? Softer ?

Yes, the aluminum is softer. I'm not sure how it would compare. It would probably be easier with direct percussion but more difficult with indirect percussion. I've forgotten most of my experience with aluminum.

How is it a copyright infringement on ancient technology? No one really knows exactly how it was done, at least not until I invent the time machine. And those little flakes are for "true" arrowheads, I mean "bird" points. Hmmm.
