Knowing how and where to take a flake is one thing, but making the best from a flake that goes awry really tests your skills. Thanks for the explanations on your best options of logically going about handling a problem area. You're not just showing how to flint knap. You're also showing the use of patience and logic. p.s. - I would comment to your youtube videos more often but I usually watch them on a television, where commenting is not much of an option.

Thanks for the comment. I knew about not being able to comment from the TV but I've heard that some people can do it if they have a fancy remote. I dunno.

First snow in Ks this year also. Last I looked, they were saying 17 inches with icing before the snow. Be a week before there is much movement around here! Sorry about the weather report, Patrick!

This snow is crazy 🤪! Everyone south of me is getting lots of snow. Here in southeast Michigan we got very little snow, about 1". Be safe folks. Love the beginnings of this blade.....sweet!!!😮😊😊

5inches and half inch to inch of ice where I'm at in Kentucky. Where the Knobbs meet the Appalachian Mountains.

Be very careful out there. A buddy of mine is driving to work in Cincinnati tonight. I'm sure we'll get bad snow soon here in Michigan. Looks like our lakes will be safe to ice fish by next weekend 😀 take care!

Curious if you ever have tried a larger diameter rod? Seems it would contact a larger area and might be better with fragile obsidian?
@KnapperJackCrafty13 күн бұрын
Oh yes. But for some reason, most Obsidian likes smaller-tipped tools.

Knapability vs Snapability?😊

It doesn't deserve to be knapped if it's going to end up snapped.

what is the diameter of the copper rod you are using for indirect percussion

How do you think the aluminum you used to use 1:11:18 would perform ? Softer ?
@KnapperJackCrafty16 күн бұрын
Yes, the aluminum is softer. I'm not sure how it would compare. It would probably be easier with direct percussion but more difficult with indirect percussion. I've forgotten most of my experience with aluminum.

How is it a copyright infringement on ancient technology? No one really knows exactly how it was done, at least not until I invent the time machine. And those little flakes are for "true" arrowheads, I mean "bird" points. Hmmm.
@KnapperJackCrafty13 күн бұрын
The copyright complaints are from musicians, not knappers.
