20km High-Precision Strike Steam Achievement

I have been told that a player did it with a laser guided bomb from F-14B at 13km and turned back after release, and tried to go away from 20km before the bomb hits the target and he got the achievement.
To be honest with you I had 2 successful strikes while doing this mission, and I'm not really sure which one of them completed the achievement. The other one was also with Walleye in American desert, the destroyed target was a Leopard tank at 20km but I don't remember where my aircraft was when the bomb hit the target, maybe positioning the plane out of 20km after drop is a way to cheese the mission? 😂
Not sure about it but you might want to keep that in mind. It is not cheesing maybe, it is only the achievement is not written clearly.
Anyway, the safest way to do it is with Walleye at 20km or more, and also keeping the plane out of 20km after drop until the impact moment.
Also, while making this video I found out a new bug for TV guided bombs. Give it a check, vote up if possible to boost fix fast. community.gaij...

I completed it also, tried doing it with Rocket assisted bombs in french tree, it didn't count, also tried with laser guided bombs but they no longer receive laser signal at that range and just go dumb. Ended up launching Walleye at like 15 and turning away.

@@igor06991 That's what I understood later, however the achievement is not written well, 20km range strike must mean bomb should be released from the wing at a moment when the plane is 20km away or more from the target, not the plane is 20km away in the impact moment, anyway I did the achievement in this or maybe in the other strike that wasn't recorded. I wrote some clarifications in the pinned comment.

try this one the su27sm or f15 as those planes go insanely fast, I think the kab 1500 be your best bet cause it massive and the su27 has a higher top IAS speed,

I tried this method yesterday with GBU-8 on F-16A. I fly at 5000 altitude with a speed 0.9 mach. I drop bomb at 23km. The bomb ballistic computer show me it will not make it but it hit the ground that it locked on. It's fun to play like this, Thank you for sharing 😊😊

The only version Finland uses is the C and if German gets a Swiss one. Itll also be a C variant. So if the US gets the F18A with AIM-7s and Finland/Germany get an F18C with AMRAAMS. US mains will be upset

Its really sad seeing Walleye bombs glide properly but Paveway IIs and AGM-123s dont at all like they should. The absolutely destroyed potential of the Paveway IIs and Skippers is depressing. Gliding bombs only glide if theyre TV guided apparently. Only above mach is also not correct but whatever, Gaijins reality is twisted.

i got this first try with the kurnass (not 2000) after watching this vid ahhaha, but i got lucky bc my team was scouting for me and i managed to get a bmp 2, also ive been having a ton of fun using the ayit and kurnass thanks to your vid that explained point locking. that is a game changer for mavericks, especially a variant. strelas still own me sometimes but now i can actually fight back, thanks hunter, youre a champion :D

I used the gbu15v2 on the barak, this was back before gaijin fixed rendering at distance so I found a Leo that was camping on a hill, flew 20km out, then dropped on that spot hoping he hadn't moved (he hadnt)

so fun fact, you don't need to be going that fast for the walleyes to go that far. I just got the achievement with the A4E early using the walleyes. when I spawned I did a 180 away from the battle field and at about 30 or so km it will respawn you back at the edge of the map. during that whole process I got to roughly 5000 to 6000 meters up and going anywhere from 600 to 700kph. dropping at 18 to 22km away and turning around after drop. it took all day but I was still able to do it going pretty slow. I wouldn't have gotten it with out this video. huge thanks man!

I got this "achievement" before it was added. I was flying my Tornado ASSTA1 after watching YOUR video on CCIP bomb lobbing tactics. Pantsir had just released and was unbelievably OP at shutting down the air game. I scored a bomb kill on one from 23km (bomb was launched at beyond 20, I was at 23 when it impacted). When I then saw this achievement I went "Huh, guess it's new", then proceeded to use the Gripen and score 2 kills at beyond 20km with it and failed to get it. You must be beyond 20km when the bomb impacts, in addition I found that dropping beyond 20km also helps secure the achievement. TLDR: your video literally birthed the "High altitude lob strikes" I mastered with the Tornado series CAS platforms.

I applaud you. That's a very goofy achievement, but good practice to keep in mind the value of point mode targeting (same goes for last video). Do you think other nations have that potential on their armament?

Well, TV guided bombs are in general a U.S thing and the majority nerfed and become subsonic bombs, Israel has IR TV bomb but it is subsonic, and Russia has TV good bombs but they are subsonic as well. The only one that is left supersonic is Walleye on F-4E Phantom II. Even GBU-8 on F-16A is nerfed from super to subsonic drop speed. "applaud" is a new word to me, I translated it and it is similar to "congrats". Thanks a lot my friend :)

Seems like the achievement counts the distance to your aircraft only after the bomb hits. I dropped mine from around 15km, then afterburned 180° back. When it hit the target, I was more than 20km away and got the achievement. EDIT: I just read the pinned comment, yeah makes sense.

I just recently got the Mirage 2000-5F and the D-R1 and when playing them in Ground RB I noticed I could use the laser guided bombs and the AS30Ls while going supersonic. I don't know if it's a bug but I could use them going as fast as mach 1.3

I have this from when the pantsir came out I used a walleye from 11,000m up in the air at near Mach from 20km and then turned away it took like a whole 3 mins to land but I don’t play on steam so I don’t have the steam achievement

Ive been thinking about going for this achievement for a bit now. Wouldnt it be easier to use laser guided bombs, so you could continue to guide it into a target instead of guessing? Also would this work with rocket assisted gbus like the pgm 2000? Its technically a gbu but you use the agm keybind to fire it, idk if it would count.

Better tutorial, this is a lot faster and easier to do all you need is a friend that plays warthunder and has this achievment. 1-Have a friend that has unlocked this achievment. 2-Kindly ask them for their warthunder login.
