The two kids (Byron Thames and Scott Schwartz) kinda remind me of a younger version of John Stamos (who is the same age as Johnny Depp!) and Dave Coulier from Full House, having a grand theft adventure! With Bob Saget aka Johnny Depp tryin to turn'em into the cops! : p i kinda want to see that, but alas.

The irony of this series is we have police officers in their mid twenties playing as high school kids but the actual kids on this show are unlikable brats 😅

New captain big improvement. Other guy was cute for one episode, but could never hold the series long term. I had already been fast forwarding his scenes for 3 episodes before that. It isn't a comedy, he wasn't that funny, and the clothing he had was very unsightly. His last episode that horrible beat up sweater made me want to puke.

The TV show 21 Jump Street is way more popular than the movie.
@VinylcoteYT3 ай бұрын
I’m not so sure about that, most people I ever bring it up to will always say - “Oh my god! I love that movie!” And then follow up with, “there was a show?”

23:07 This kid is Sgt. Rick Hunter's son from the wild oats he sewn in the Vietnam conflict. I didn't notice at first but a turn of a phrase just now makes me realize. Funny sometimes its the voice or the method of speech that makes you recognize someone you only have seen one time before.

This episode reeks of "boys will be boys" It comes across as celebrating boys sexuality and pursuit of it, while at the same time condemning the girls. There's parentification is this episode as well. Several of their episode have a "boys will be boys" energy.
@tinyegg2825 Жыл бұрын
idk if you've noticed but more often than not (if you watch to the end of the episodes) they condemn that idiom pretty heavily
@yessum158 ай бұрын
Yes and no. Yes, because it definitely lets the high school's boys off the hook, given that they've essentially admitted to "soliciting". But also no, because Laura's actions are not condemned at all. She's cast as a tragic figure, not a villain. Her decisions are framed as clever, selfless, and even heroic, ultimately culminating in Officer Hoffs questioning her own motivation in pursuing her. Once Hoffs understands what Lauren has been doing, she and her CO still believe Lauren is good, but are convinced that she needs saving because she's in over her head. By the end, when Hoffs realizes that Lauren has eluded them and that the police never really had a good answer for how to help her anyway, she starts realizing that the "save Lauren" narrative may have been a rationalization all along to justify dismantling Lauren's life simply to get their closure stats up. She realizes that she too may have been using Lauren, like everyone else in her life. The episode puts a finer point on this notion of Lauren as a tragic heroic figure though the B plot as well. In the B plot, Jordan & Dylan's story is juxtaposed against Lauren's story for 2 reasons: 1) To lighten the overall tone of the most melancholy episode yet. 2) The writers are illustrating the power of privilege. The boys are so well situated that a series of amazingly bad decisions result in little more than a fun adventure. Whereas Laura is by sheer circumstance forced to make high pressure decisions no one should have to, with no good options, unbelievably high stakes, and zero margin of error. The boys are safe because every adult in their lives is trying to take care of them. Laura is managing adults while everyone tries to take advantage. Their lives are so close and yet so far apart as a result of circumstances neither had a hand in. It's very similar to when Bubbles (from The Wire) muses "it's a thin line between heaven and here." So while the episode is a reflection of the biases of its time, it's significantly more forward thinking than previous ones in its framing of Lauren's actions.
