We downsized from a 39 ft Class A to a 25 ft Class C for 2 retirees. The change has been so worth it for ease of set up and tear down and ability to get into smaller sites. It has also decreased the fatigue factor of driving a big rig. We use satellite view on Google maps to scope out parking in shopping areas and restaurants. We try to do our grocery and laundry and errand stops before going to campsite at the end of the day. We had a washer dryer before but I don't miss it at all. We have been on the road 3-4 months at a time without getting stir crazy.

lol! I 100% agree with all you’re saying! A few years ago our family travelled across Canada from Alberta to Nova Scotia and back in 6 weeks in a 32 foot class C with 4 kids. (That was as short as we could go with 6 people!). I loved having a HUGE front bunk overhang for our two boys, plus a bunk bed in the middle of the motorhome for our two girls, plus a queen bed in the back for us. We’d stay two nights max at each place and, yes, we’d often call ahead the day of and get a site for the night. We’d just make sure to stock up on groceries before parking for the night, and plan laundry along the way. It was such a great trip! The memories, the family time, the adventure! So worth it all! Then this past January we lived on Vancouver island for three weeks in our 33 foot bumper pull trailer (with 5 kids!). Yep, super different mentality. But also a great memory-making adventure! ☺️ Thanks for sharing all your tips and tricks! Love you guys! (Btw, I’ve been watching you guys and getting tips and tricks on how to travel full time since we first travelled for three weeks in a ‘89 Triplee motorhome with three kids 4 and under back in 2015 ☺️ ❤ (we don’t travel full time, but when we travel it’s for 2-6 weeks at a time))

@LessJunkMoreJourneyАй бұрын
It's actually great! Since it's so small, and even the whole body is smaller than a classic. Class C, we fit comfortably in regular parking spots width-wise, then we just give extra room front to back... parking the Dually seems to need more space 😂
@sherriweber7105Ай бұрын
These were good questions to ask. I agree that if you tow a vehicle with a class C it would be hard to pull with it and harder to fit in smaller space at campgrounds. I would do that too! Also with the washing clothes at laundromat while on the road is a great idea and or at the campground. I take one shower a day and that’s because of the pollen outside. Or anything else out there. Nice the dinette can fit a tall person as well. And your king bed. Nice that Hensley has a privacy curtain. It’s nice to it doesn’t take you long to set up and tare down. I’m loving the Lineage. Thank you for this video! Stay safe and safe travels. Have a great week and see you soon!

We timed ourselves once. Even in our decrepit old age with mobility issues, it takes us no longer than 15-20 min to pack and hit the road. That's while taking our time. We pack the exterior stuff the night before (dump tanks, stow the stinky slinky, pull in the awning, pack any camp chairs and tables, etc.). While he's doing that I'm packing what I can in the interior. In the morning all I have to do is last minute stuff like any vent fans and settle the pets while he pulls the water and power. That can be done in 10 minutes.

I have a 20’ TT . It’s perfect size for me and my dogs. I pull with full size truck. My problem with MH is it has a motor therefore it is higher insurance. It is taller in height, so you are limited from low clearance areas (ie. Parking garages, low overpasses, trees) . I can still find parking spaces when pulling because I’m only the length of 2 cars. If you’re out on the road and you’re MH breaks down, as you said your jeep did, then you have to get a hotel room until repairs are made. Where as with the trailer I still have my “home “ . These are just my opinions that I think about in looking at MH for myself.

Nathan, great job on describing the differences in mindsets between a trailer and a small motorhome. We've done both, and neither is 'better' than the other. They're just different. A 25' motorhome can fit in a lot of places that a larger fifth wheel can't, but there are lots of places where you can take a 4x4 truck but not a 25' motorhome. The motorhome is more convenient on the road, but the price tag is much higher. And so on. But you did a great job summarizing!👍

@@LessJunkMoreJourney first of all, the Foretravel was a huge problematic lemon 🍋. Mostly used for lengthy tailgating collegiate football games. My husband mainly drove it and fueling it and parking it was challenging. Once our scope changed from weekend tailgating to pleasure traveling, I did tons of research to decide what our style of travel would be. My priorities were *easy * fueling at regular stations vs truck stops * I wanted propane and solar which the 45’ was all electric * fitting into a regular parking space * having everything that you need, but no extra space… it’s ALL a matter of ‘trade-offs’… I’ve been a subscriber from day 1, love you guys … we also now have a nice climate controlled metal building / Barndominium that we house our beloved Unity MB to keep it nice and protected from Hurricanes. We are south of I-10 in SE Louisiana. A MUST for us was the diesel generator. Since the engine is diesel, it makes sense to us to always have generator power in our HOT climate. As preppers for bad weather events, we keep a home elevated tank of several hundred gallons of diesel. This is our back-up to our back-ups. We were without power for 15 days in 2021 with Cat 5 Ida. Our whole home generator failed after day 6 and the RV was our salvation.

portable washers are available online that you might want to check out many with no electricity needed.

Those do look very handy! Thankfully, this is just for a season and then we return back to our home RV with the machines.

Your average 14 MPG is impressive. How does the cost per mile (fuel @ $3.54+ DEF@ $2.74) compare to a gas engine ($3.23 per gal.) getting 9 MPG? Mercedes chassis are famous for lower load carrying capacity. Did you find this to be an issue? Thanks! Mark

I’m a night time shower person. I can’t understand people taking a shower in the morning. You take all the dust and sweat into the bed. We love our 25’ motorhome. We travel the same way you do. We towed before and realized it’s much more time consuming and not to forget the fuel ⛽️ you save driving this way.

More team Before Bed! 🎉🎉 And yes, it’s so very efficient to travel this way. Especially when you want to just go fast!

We have a 34 ft Class A but its a Diesel so the motor is in the back, it isn't as noisy. I like being able to get up and go to the bathroom when I need to or get something to eat or drink without stopping. I always hold onto something while moving around. I won't drive it though as it seems really daunting. I probably would drive a class C though. I have no idea what the washer and dryer trick is...lol, I tried looking it up but nothing. We don't have kids so its not a problem.

Prayers your home base weathered the storm. Missed your content while you came thru WA State. We're in ELECTRIC CITY WA 99123... If you get the chance to come back, the Coulee Dam, Banks Lake, Dry Falls high dessert is like a mini grand canyon and complete opposite of rain forests and coasts. If you get this way again, we have parking and hook ups! Prayers for you and yours.

Everyone sort of figures out what works for them I think and there's a lot of trial and error in the process. I have a 26 foot class C, and my 'toad' is a 150cc type scooter I hitch up on the back. Great for taking off and running around local areas. I've camped on BLM land just outside national/state parks and rode that scooter around the national park to explore. I also frequently stay in cities, urban camping as they say, and this configuration works well for that. But then I'm just one person.

That sounds like a great set up! It's true, it's all so dependent on each person/family.

So I searched your videos and the only thing I found regarding washing machine hack was in this video Doing This To Your RV Will Save You $1,000 A Year Which is to wash bedding in laundry facility machines, not the RV washing machine. Is that it??? (That's what I do too. other wise I need to wash bottom sheet separate from top sheet, and can't wash the bed spread at all. So, laundry facility for bedding is a thing!
@LessJunkMoreJourneyАй бұрын
It's true. Our buddy's we take to the laundromat but everything else is washed in the RV (When we're in the solitude).

I have a relative who got up for a potty break while the RV was moving. When the driver had to slam on the brakes, she did the superman flight all the way to the front, and ended up looking worse than Frankenstein.

Have you heard from your friends and family in east Tenn.? The mountains in Tenn. and North Carolina have been devastated, I assume you have seen the pictures and videos from the area. It is going to take months to get the power back on, and years to fix the roads and bridges. They need our prayers.
@LessJunkMoreJourneyАй бұрын
We have seen. It’s beyond devastating. And we have to keep every single person impacted in our prayers and help in every way we can.

@@LessJunkMoreJourney The minute I saw the devastation, I thought of you. I remember the tornado that ripped through your hometown, it was really bad too. I live in Eastern North Carolina where hurricanes are a common thing, but it's not easy. To see our mountains like I've seen our coast is heart wrenching. I know you've been to the Outer Banks, take a look at the homes that have fallen into the ocean just this year. Unreal! Take care, and thanks for listening.
