I hate it when people diss mellophone and claim it doesn't sound nice, just listen to this.

It's my favourite instrument to write for
@rosestewart05 жыл бұрын
It’s seen as a discount French Horn because it’s the “marching French Horn” and it isn’t a great horn replacement. It’s a good instrument on its own, but it’s quite different from a French Horn.

I start mellophone next year and I got to say this is very inspiring
@bobbafett62358 жыл бұрын
StarKin KZbin I started this year and I gotta say it's easier and harder in certain ways. If you use a mello mouthpiece instead of a horn peice with an adapter, you'll start out with bad tone because you won't be used to the mouthpiece, but after a few months you'll get it great. You use a lot less air, so you can play forte and forticemo easier. Practice your horn, because when I went back to normal band class I was weakened by being used to the mello's demands and it took me a few weeks to get strong at it. Worst thing about mellophone is the bell size
@sjake7866 жыл бұрын
Bobba Fett I have been on it for a year now and I couldn’t agree more with what you said. It is eaiser in its ways but harder in others. It was a defentily a pain switching back to F Horn but I thank you for the heads up!

@edynnhosier71897 жыл бұрын
Ally Scαмαиdєя I switched to mellophone for marching band after playing flute for two years and its horrible. It's so different and I can't get the pitches right. I'm starting to just think I should have just stuck to my smaller instruments because I can't even see when I'm marching the horn is so big.
@Blaketflip7 жыл бұрын
A secret coming from a mellophone player, is that we can't actually see either. We have to use echolocation in order to move around the field. :)

Your vibrato and pitch is great, and you have a nice easy tone. However, it sounds just a tad airy, as if you're using a cup size that's slightly too deep, or a rim that's just a little too wide. What size mouthpiece are you using?
