I can understand passing on brady so long, but I can't understand passing on Rogers. One of my biggest regrets is Brett Favre flip flopping in and out of retirement for 4 or 5 years wasting that much of Rogers career forcing him sit on the bench during most of his first year contract. That's 4 or 5 years of wondering if he's going to start all off season. That's 4 or 5 years of him not being able to play and help negotiate for a much larger second contract. And that's 4 or 5 years of career numbers being taken away from him that people in the future will look back and compare him to other players and make him look not as good. He could have an extra 125 td passes, 20,000 passing yards and tons of other fantastic stats that were taken away from an old man thatsc'v88

Bob Bob he technically does. He uses all his arm. You don’t want to do that but he’s able to do it bc his arm is so talented. In QB mechanics you want to see them using their body to put momentum into the pass also.. Rodgers relies all on his arm. He also is careless with his left arm. They’d rather see him drive it inside towards his left hip so it forces his throwing arm high & like it should be. When he throws its close to sidearm.

This was Ted Thompson's very first draft pick as GM of the Packers. This one pick and how he stood firmly behind Rodgers years later is Ted's entire legacy in Green Bay. Packers fans absolutely hated the pick of Rodgers and vilified Ted for it. When Ted stuck with Rodgers after Favre retired in 2008 and then un-retired, fans vilified him for not letting Favre back. He took a ton of abuse from fans over it and when Ted was ultimately be vindicated with the Super Bowl 45 win, and every single one of those fans who vilified him were completely shut up and Ted refused to take a victory lap at their expenbse when he had every right to. Starting with this pick, Ted extended the Packers run as Super Bowl contenders for another 16 years. Thank you, Ted. Rest in Peace.

I think he may not have been the player he is today if he didn't sit on the bench for awhile on the Packers. While he was there, they adjusted the way he threw the ball so that he COULD throw it deep. Perhaps he wouldn't have been as good if he didn't have time to do that and to observe Favre before starting.

I'm speaking of course of Tom Brady who grew up a die-hard Niners fan and huge Joe Montana fan, and A-Rod. It's ironic if nothing else.

Ted Thompson was horrible for the packers. Packers front office has been the biggest enemy of the team for so long it's ridiculous. Not signing free agents or anything isn't how you build a championship team when lots of draft picks will be busts.

@@dark_ritThe one year that Rodgers has a top 5 defense, he wins a Super Bowl. It’s funny how that works, and how everyday fans like us can see that but NFL owners don’t seem to grasp that concept. Rodgers really got the Dan Marino treatment. It’s almost like Thompson and the Packers office sat back and said “wow this quarterback is really good and can win games on his own, let’s not even worry about the pieces around him”. Compare guys like Rodgers and Brees to Brady in New England. The Patriots office was always looking to improve their team through free agency and the draft. However some of that was Brady’s willingness to restructure his contract to free up money to sign players. It’s why he’s got 7 rings and unfortunately, Rodgers only has one and that will probably be it.

@@williamcharles587 Rodgers is just as good under pressure though is the thing. The amount of teams Rodgers has stabbed in the heart has more than proven he’s just as cool under pressure. Besides, if you look at Brady, he relies on a system. He gets the ball and gets it out as soon as he can. It doesn’t make him bad, but he can’t usually keep a play going like Rodgers can. I’m not talking out of my ass, watch his film, then Rodgers. You are absolutely right it’s not just playcalling, otherwise he wouldn’t have 6 rings, but when you look at just how bad McCarthy’s playcalling was in his final years at Green Bay. Yet despite that, and how horrifically predictable we were, he still led us to 12-4. Rodgers is more skilled. Whether it’s from film, or from pure statistics.
