No free refills on alcohol in the states. Just sodas or some kind of soft drink like lemonade.
@planetjase2 жыл бұрын
You don’t get free refills on alcohol here. It’s more because the pop is so expensive and not refillable you might as well just drink alcohol lol.

The "how are you?" thing is hilarious. I went through a real a**hole phase in my mid 20s where I actually answered that question honestly. Yeah...no one actually asks that question wanting a real answer. People literally have no idea what to do when you answer that question with anything other than some variation of "fine, how are you?" You can really mind f**k people, especially as a girl. There's a 4 to 8 day window every month when people REALLY don't want an honest answer to that question LMFAO 🤣

2:50 Two weeks is common at places that need talented employees and need to treat them well to keep them. Places that employ "unskilled workers" give them no time off. I've known people who've literally worked every single day(including weekends) for years straight...which the exception of maybe the place closes for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

@jeffburdick8692 жыл бұрын
@@raggaduxjones Wouldn't that be nice. US government def. leans heavily towards the corporations' side in regards to labor disputes. Some states have far better labor laws than others. In a lot of places in the US, labor laws are negligible.

You work that much here because you HAVE TO. Medical care and rent/mortgage payments are asinine, and food is expensive, too. And god forbid you get some chronic illness and don’t have health insurance. A vial of insulin is over $300 without insurance. And Chemotherapy for cancer is worse. $8,000 for one dose of some chemotherapy. $8,000!

Yeah the one thing I’m pretty glad for over here is the NHS. But we pay that much in taxes the working people probably pay more than they use. And the scroungers get it for free. Thanks for watching and commenting. Appreciate you supporting the channel.

Yeah that 2 weeks on average is starting out typically, and it will go up the longer you are with a company. We do get holidays off too but that varies depending on which ones your company has available. My last job had Good Friday off as a holiday, but my current one does not offer it. But I've been here long enough now to get 24 days off a year so that is much better.

14:40 I think the increased size bathroom doors and increased privacy are why in Europe its more acceptable to use the bathroom of not your gender. I remember being in a pub in Amsterdam, waiting in line, and the Irish guys behind me were like "just use the women's room mate." And to me, this was like such a blasphemous faux pas. And I was like so hesitant. And then he's just "aye, come on mate" and started walking into the women's room, so I followed him. And went into the stall, peed, and left. It was such a surreal experience for me. But the stalls are so incredibly private, it kinda makes sense why its not a big deal.
@planetjase2 жыл бұрын
Probably haha Europe is a bit strange. Tbh you’d get crucified here in England if you went into the other genders toilet. However, if you identify as the other you get praised through the roof. Yeah this one was a funny one tbh.

The 15%-25% gratuity is not set in stone. For instance, if I go to a diner for a late night snack with my friends(I miss pre-Covid days) and the bill only comes to $10 on my end, I'm not going to tip $2.50 when that server did just as much work as a waiter in a high-end restaurant. In those cases, I usually double so I'll put down $20 for a $10 check. And speaking of diners, when you do travel across the Atlantic I highly-recommend hitting up a Waffle House at 2 AM on a Friday night. The food is crap but there's always at least one brawl. Often the employees get involved. A must visit for a foreigner looking to experience true American idiocy:)- Becks
@planetjase2 жыл бұрын
Haha cheers Becks! I’ll keep the 2am trip in mind. The one thing I am looking forward to is the food. A 10% tip here is considered pretty generous tbh and with card payments a lot of people don’t even tip. Mad really. I’ll remember to tip well when I come over!

Not all of these are accurate - for instance $14.88 will usually be around $14.98 with sales tax (give or take) not $16.14, that's crazy! And I get 8 weeks paid time off for holiday where I work, and I'm in the US. Take everything here with 2-4 dashes of salt ;) Red solo cups - yeah not sure why they have that on this list...it's just a plastic disposable cup, it's not like a big thing here. I remember when pharmacies also sold cigarettes - man that was crazzzzzy I heard that the reason they put so much space under the bathroom stall doors is to discourage people from having sex in them...which apparently used to happen quite often 🤔🙄
@jeffburdick8692 жыл бұрын
Something that costs $14.88 before tax will cost $14.98 after tax? So the sales tax is 0.0067%? Where on Earth is that sales tax? In my experience, sales tax is generally 6% to 10%. So the $16.44 is fairly reasonable.
@brianlewis56922 жыл бұрын
@@jeffburdick869 ok you're right...I was rushing when I typed that comment. It would be more around $15.92. My apologies. I must have been thinking $1.48 not 14.88.
