Recorded in my country (Belgium) - he took 2 years off to live in Ostend-Belgium to reset from his hectic life in the US, and even almost bought a house here, planning to stay permanently. But the plans didn't pan out. He went back to the US (unfortunately I must say, since he died 2 years later, shot by his dad). It became his best selling album.

Marvin had one of the greatest voices in popular music. His biographer David Ritz said he "had the voice of an angel trapped in the body of a man". "Sexual Healing" is one of my favorites though I favor the alternate vocal/mix. I echo Dianne Bleacher that you should do "I want you" next. You should also try to find the rehearsal of the song he did for a documentary where he literally was chillin' on a couch and singing it smooth as silk.

Marvin is unbelievable vocally, and was a multi-instrumentalist. He had early hits solo like Ain’t That Peculiar & Heard it Through the Grapevine, early duet hits with Tami Terrell (Ain’t No Mountain High Enough), and later solo hits like I Want You, and this song. One of a kind.

Marvin was the TOTAL package! Looks, talent and class. This was his last Song (he won Awards for it). I remember when I heard the News he died. I was leaving work and it came over the radio. I had to pull over to the side of the road and just sit there. I was in total shock. Then when I heard it was his Dad who killed him I was in shock all over again. Marvin had his faults (as we all do in one degree or another). I knew his Dad was a preacher and heard Dad was a cross dresser (don't know if that's true or not). I saw an interview with his Father and Marvin. You could see and hear the jealousy/animosity in his Father's Voice and facial expressions. Marvin looked totally uncomfortable and nervous in his Father's presence. It turns out for good reason. 😥
@chrisv966
@chrisv966 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, in reference to the cross dressing, his father did that. Also, Marvin's given last name is 'Gay' but because of his father's behavior added the "E" to it, as so the public who knew what his father did, would not connect the two together.

Another great reaction to another great artist! I still commend you for being able to listen to these classics, and still make the faces other people do when they can hear and feel the groove in the music. Marvin is such a legend in his own time, and continues to be so, years after his passing. For another cool reaction, check out Marvin Gaye singing the National Anthem at a Lakers game. Some dig it, some would rather hear it done the traditional way, but perhaps Marvin was the one who influenced others to put their own spin on it. Stay bringin' the great reactions Twon!!
