Learn Lock Picking! Learn To Master Setting Pins!
Link To Subscribe➜ kzbin.info...
Today you will learn the “zipping technique” which will help you quickly identify your binding pin so you can learn to pick locks more quickly and effectively! This video series is part of my Lock Picking Home School Series which helps beginners learn from zero experience up to an intermediate level.
The “zipping technique” can be used in several different ways. When it is used faster and more aggressively it can be used as a kinetic attack to open up locks quickly but if you are slower and more gentle with it you can gather very valuable feedback from it. When you start to gently zip a lock, you will often find that the pick will get caught up on a keypin, this keypin is often the next one to bind and it strongly indicates that you should set it. This technique can help you rapidly identify binding pins and help you learn to single pin pick locks much faster. It does not work on all locks but when it does work it can be quite effective!
Thank you for checking this out and I hope it helped!

what i really like about these videos, you can go back and get refreshers. i still like going back to my cut away locks when i get into slumps, using the 3d locksport holder and insert you can basically turn your cutaway into a regular hidden pin lock. thanks again for these videos and congrats on the 50k + subs, will be routing for your 100k milestone to!

@@HelpfulLockPicker well as how i see it, you ill definitely reach it! as well as others, takes time, as for me; i like being off the radar. i have no videos and content, just comment and give props or ideas when i can, with the occasional use of some videos for figuring stuff out and some entertainment. i have strayed away from tv and sometime go through an catch video throughout parts of the day when i can. stay well and stay safe wildman!

I've always been interested in Lock sport, my job includes long periods of dead time and I would love to fill it up with something challenging. Recently I've been watching a ton of content online( this is the first video watched from you, but I subscribed so look forward to seeing many more) and after several weeks of just watching others more adept at the art I think its time to move on to putting my second foot in the door. Love how clearly you speak, explaining as you move along, and the closeup shot so nothing is missed. Thank you, looking forward to learning from a helpful lock picker! Cheers from NYC!

I have had my monstrum kit 5 days now and you have helped me out tremendously. Haven't gotten the one with security pins, but I can single pin pick the basic locks with standard pins fairly well, seems I have more trouble with tensioning than picking those for now. Thank you for your information and motivation.

Interesting. I do this quite a bit but never really thought about it. It's one reason I like the Full Dent pick because it rolls back and forth rather nicely over the pins. What it can lack in some locks in lifting height it makes up for with letting you know which needs to be picked next.

The method you describe is the "SpeedBump Method" originally proposed by either Dr.Bint or Solomon, can't recall offhand which, but it IS an effective tool in your skillset...

2:34 - 2:40 interestingly the lower half of pin 4 has some looseness to it, which could cause it to feel like it has been set, but it still has more lifting to do. I really like this technique, because I can go by feel and not worry about what number pin I am on. I'm sure practice makes perfect, however, at this point I go nuts trying to decipher "okay this is pin 4, this is pin 3, and literally counting each one trying to imagine that my pick is all the way in the back on pin 4. And, I use a really short hook that is ever so slight of a curve. I cannot imagine it being possible to use anything with a steeper hook, because there is no room, though I watch folks doing it.

Yes, most break-ins are from physical attack, but in the past, there weren't videos for public consumption like yours on how to pick locks and enter surreptitiously, so I see these as helping those with criminal tendencies to gain new skills for committing crimes. Locksmith schools check backgrounds, you offer it to anyone.

I'm probably confusing my self, but how does gravity allow there to be "over set key pins" what's holding them up, do they go past the sheer line? If not, wouldn't just tapping lock make them fall back down? Hey thanks!
@HelpfulLockPicker
@HelpfulLockPicker 3 жыл бұрын
An overset keypin is set higher than the shearline and the tension you place on the plug is what is holding them up

All locks are different and you learn from each one. The locks where you open off of only hitting a few pins it is possible the shaft of your pick is setting the other pins and you are not realizing it

How would everyone feel about videos on how to steal cars as a sport because of course everyone would only steal their own cars as a hobby or friend's cars with their permission? What about making poisons? Bombs? Teaching Anyone how to pick locks means teaching some people that intend to use it for illegal purposes. Is it fun? Yeah. It is a good idea for society in general? Hardly.
@HelpfulLockPicker
@HelpfulLockPicker 5 жыл бұрын
I think across many different sports or hobbies there will always be a few bad apples and we should not let them be our focus. But when you break it down, most unauthorized entry comes through destructive entry because it doesn't take any skill and is very reliable and you should be more worried about someone with bolt cutters, a drill, a crowbar, etc more than this
