What do you think? What's your take on Active Rest vs. Resensitisation?

My take is that it’s spelled “ resensitization”. #MERICA

Good to see Dr. Mike back. I think his bodybuilding advice is as good as it gets, but sometimes wish he’d stick to his own lane. Watching COVID-19 blow back up in the US, having lost a family member there, and knowing some people who’ve had it telling just how bad it can be, saying anything to minimize it feels irresponsible. I’ve yet to hear him say a word on how to at least minimize your chances if you’re out there for example.

Do you disagree with his .2-4% fatality rate?
@daytonasayswhat93334 жыл бұрын
Mike dropped all kinds of legitimate statistical data, studies and research yet you think he should “stick in his own lame” because you have an isolate anecdotal example or two? Give me a break. Any I’ve had family members die to. Not from Covid, but dead nonetheless. And guess what: so has everyone else on here. Likely Even horrible deaths. And we’re not telling you about it. I find it in such bad taste when people parade their death in front of other people. You’re not adding any value and just cruising for sympathy.
@DJcs1874 жыл бұрын
He did drop data, but he also spread a lot of misinformation, regarding child deaths for example. He's simply not an expert on the subject, but came off "expertly", because of who he is. Helms has warned of this in the past, pretending to be an authority on subjects you realistically should not speak to. I had to turn this off after 6 minutes, because I could not keep listening to his selfish, semi-knowledgeable take.

@41:30 when referencing recovery and if you're growing. How do you measure or quantify if you're "growing" week to week to determine if more or less volume is needed?
@ReviveStronger4 жыл бұрын
I don't think you could accurately measure growth on such a short timescale (and that he meant to measure it on such a short timescale), but if you're getting stronger overtime on a certain movement/movements per muscle group, you're very much likely growing! As for the adding volume part, that's up to your recovery capabilities, if you can recover on time for your next session and feel fresh and are still having a good pump during your session, you can add a set, if you're feeling under-recovered, losing the pump, still "extremely" sore from the previous session, you might have reached your MRV or overdone it if you're early in your mesocyle! Coach Jess
@AberrantArt4 жыл бұрын
@@ReviveStronger do you think there is a balance between session and weekly MRV? For example, using a body builder split you'll be able to add sets until your performance for that muscle group hits a wall. Doing an upper lower or full body you'll likely not hit a session MRV but a weekly or systemic MRV. how would you suggest finding your frequency to maximize growth?
@ReviveStronger4 жыл бұрын
@@AberrantArt You could definitely hit a session MRV, as in you can no longer overload based on the previous performance. Finding your frequency (to maximize growth) depends on how much time you have and how practical is it for you ? If you can only train 4 times a week it would be complicated to hit hamstrings 3x for example! If you have more context I could help!
@AberrantArt4 жыл бұрын
@@ReviveStronger wouldn't the failure to match previous performance be more indicative of a systemic MRV? What's the best way to know the difference between systemic or session MRV?

Love the podcast as always. Just wanted to note that the CDC has increased the case fatality rate from their previous estimate to now about 0.7%, significantly worse than the flu. No hate to Dr. Mike; he was spot on given the most current info. Just wanted to put that out there since this was recorded a bit ago

I don't know the validity of the claims, but I have been seeing information suggesting that COVID-19 is leaving some survivors with permanent damage. If that were true and happening at a high enough rate, I think we'd need to not only consider the death rate, but also the lasting effects on those who survive when discussing how to go about dealing with it's spread.

I think one key thing that Mike overlooked with the metabolic question was that if the person is below their body fat settling point they will never feel ”normal” or like they would at a higher body fat, regardless of how many calories they eat.
