Hestia is a great Brussel sprout variety which I have grown for several years. So good that the deer who jumped the fence into my garden in December cleaned them right off. Didn't even leave a thank you note! My wife saw a coyote hanging around the fence shortly afterward.

Hi Nigel. this new series of yours is just what is needed. I started three years ago when I got my allotment and have learned so much from you already, but this series just adds to it. One request though. How about a section on caring for the plant as it grows? With brassicas I never know whether they should be fed and if so, how often and with what. Thanks for all your hard work. Tony
@MuddyBootz3 жыл бұрын
Hello Tony and welcome to the channel 😀. A good point you have raised and something I will include in future videos in the series. With brassicas, most of the food will come from the ground if you have prepared it earlier with well rotted manure or spent compost , but as they are leafy plants, Nitrogen is always a welcome addition. A scattering of slow release Growmore a week or two after planting out and another one around September, just to boost them. Nettles soaking in a barrel of water is a great free Nitrogen feed 😀 🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻

I had a good giggle when you lost that seed, Nigel! Thank you!🤣 I wondered why you went from 94 to 60 but I see you held some back! I really like that you're following the progress!! I need root trainers! Thank you! I love hearing the birdsong in the background, it's been a while! This may be a disadvantage to me to have a bed I've never grown in .. I'll also need to know my PH levels.. Thank you! I suspect the shuffle will be my only option as they will be rototilling! .. Thank you! How far apart are those bulb planter holes for the brassicas, Nigel? Looks like about 18-24 inches? Yes? A shame I won't know my soil to know if it has club root! Fingers crossed, it does not! Your cabbages are gorgeous!! I got so much out of this my friend! Thank you very much for the vast amount of knowledge you've shared here! Into my reference bookmarks you go to add to the others! It's greatly appreciated!! Have an awesome weekend!!💚
