This was my home from 1959-1964 when I was aged 7-13. I loved it from the moment I first saw it. It was well maintained in those days. You should have seen it with the Persian carpets, crystal chandeliers, and decked for Christmas by my Dad. The stair carpet went in in '62 when my 10 yr old sister tumbled down the main stairs during a dinner party. 218 will always be my home. I hope I get to haunt it. (the basement originally housed the pantry and dining room ). I hope whomever buys it loves it half as much as did and do.

The 'sliding doors' the estate agent refers to are actually called 'pocket doors'. Exterior carvings above the front street-facing bedroom are of the builder's two daughters, the father's face on the corner of the small 'maids' room and, and the mother's face is over the doorway. The tile in the front vestibule should have lovely veined white marble underneath this atrocity. The 'W' on the glass stands for the name of the builder's family. If one looks behind the door in the upstairs front bedroom they will find an ancient 'servant call'. The basement was the servant's domain. The side door the agent referred to letting out onto the 'driveway' was actually the coal shute for the home. The kitchen and back closed in porch have been their since 1960 at least. The 'renovation' was done sometime after '64. My Dad installed the powder room in the kitchen. My Mun toured the elderly grandson of the builder through the home in 1960. He was so happy it was still a family home.
